Honestly teams would do well to focus their recruitment around kiwi players these days. They don't get screwed for 10 weeks of the year during the origin period, plus they are pretty well matched or better than their aussie counterparts these days anyway.

No he sexually assaulted one. Hence the no cheering.
I'll forgive plenty of dumb behaviour by players, but I draw the line at sexual offences and violence against women. I'm not too fond of violence against anyone really (I'd be LIVID if we made a play for Packer) but at least there are some occasions where it is understandable (when Sa cleaned up a few blokes in Wollongong because they stole SKD's wallet, for example)

I'd try to explain it more to you but I'm not sure there is some retarded forgotten song from the 80s vaguely about the subject that I can link the youtube clip for.
Just to be clear - Ferguson isn't a 'woman basher'.
The sexual offence that he committed was totally unacceptable. It was a massive sign of disrespect towards woman and the fact that he was drunk isn't an excuse.
However, to put Ferguson in the same class as 'woman bashers' and serious sex offenders (Yes, I'm aware that all sex offences are serious, the fact is though that some are worse then others) and to never give him another chance, as a footy player or a person, is wrong in my opinion. People spend lengthy stints in jail and are given the chance of rehabilitation, surely a young man like Fergo shouldn't be written off for life.
I understand violence against woman is a touchy subject, it should be, and I'm glad people are passionate about it. Domestic and Family Violence, particularly where woman are the victim and men the perpetrators, is a serious problem in our society. The more we talk about it the better, particularly the more men that voice their opinions about how unacceptable it is.
Fergo has clearly been guilty in the past of being a dick. He also committed an act that was considered sexual assault. He has to live with that for his entire life. In my opinion though he deserves another chance, as a person particularly. If he turns his personal life around and in turn shows respect for the Roosters jumper then he's got my support. If he's palming people off, scoring tries and winning premierships, then that's even better!

Just wondering whether you have forgiven him or were cheering when he had that lung issue this year.

NRL players Jake Friend and Sandor Earl can focus on their careers after being cleared of nightclub assault charges.
Friend, who continues to play for the Roosters, also denied assaulting Mr Bradley-Qalilawa.
His lawyers said the CCTV footage showed he was nowhere near the scuffle at the time.
Mr Favretto said he could not rely on Mr Bradley-Qalilawa's version, which was key to the prosecution's evidence, because of his level of intoxication at the time.
Friend's lawyer, Stephen Alexander, said the case was a classic example of the stigma attached to football players.
``Clearly, when this incident took place, the media was all over it, there was reporting of, I suppose, serious allegations,'' Mr Alexander said.
``But in court ... it was clear that, as far as Jake Friend was concerned, he's nowhere to be seen in the CCTV footage. ``So it must be tough being a sportsman in 2010 in Sydney.''

Would've been nice if the cops had done a proper/thorough investigation before they charged anyone, eh?

I assume that he would have spoken to his niece at the time, after all she was the person who was hit.
Rugby league players do get away with plenty. Coff Coff.
It is good to see the person Friend has become after that incident. It goes to show that people can be rehabilitated with the right people around them.
My favourite Easts player.
