I wouldn't mind it either. He may one captain NSW and Australia one day and play for the Dragons and I would give one of my spare 996's to him. Seriously he is still only 21 and played for Australia, he will become one of the greats in my opinion and you are happy for him to leave your club??? Anyways we can differ on opinion and still get along.

However with that success comes an ultimately rougher period in terms of player rosters due to the NRL stupidly not having rewards in place for developing youth/reserve graders into representative stars. I guess its all about having an even competition, but then again the officiating pretty much dimishes that concept. However thats another story and comes 2016 and beyond I'm thinking we will see a squad of:

      1. RTS (hopefully long-term and doesn't go back to Union)
      2. Tupou/Burgess
      3. Jennings (could keeping him be a problem? hopefully he has too much respect for the Roosters to chase a major offer from someone like Raiders or Sharks)
      4. Ferguson
      5. McDonald
      6. Hastings
      7. Pearce
      8. JWH (same deal as RTS)
      9. Friend
      10. Moa
      11. Cordner
      12. Aubo
      13. Guerra

      14. Liu
      15. Napa
      16. Evans
      17. Meehan

      Reserves
Pappali, Leuluai, MLK, Mitchell and other juniors that come along

      Potentials
Merrin, Taumalolo, SBW (2017) and which ever other high profile player we are linked too.

That is still a very decent squad and with Robbo at the helm we are virtually guaranteed to be competitive for a long time. The future is bright
You wrote a detailed post about how after 2015 we'll have a lesser squad and then you post virtually the same team we have now minus FPN and SKD, who are rumoured to be gone per this post, and Maloney. If that's the case then we have nothing to worry about.

After last night's game i would be torn up if we got rid of SKD now. I would keep him at least for another season (2015) if we can stay under the cap. Even if he plays on the wing he can still be a valuable asset.
        Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

Absolutely, he is a must for 2015. He has really matured as a footballer and will be an intregal part of our gun backline in 2015. He is a winger/centre who consistently makes more than 100m a game taking a lot of pressure off the forwards, is big and strong and really has turned his defense around. We may not be able to keep him beyond 2015 as some clubs will definitely offer him really good money but I think he is definitely an asset to have in 2015 as he is a 150 game veteran and still in his mid to late 20s.

In answer to both posts, he can handle two at the same time. And is great at multitasking.

i hope this the case - his 4 nations performance was very good - the man plays his football with a great passion , for us and NZ.

More than happy Jennings/Tupou left hand side - Ferguson(if it all falls into place)/SKD right hand side and Roger at the back.

I think a few here are getting recruitment for 2015 and 2016 mixed up, FPN has been told he can look elsewhere for 2015, which is not the case for Maloney/SKD in their case it has been indicated to their managers that they are unlikely to be offered contracts beyond 2015 and should explore their options for 2016.

what is unclear is the status for JWH/Guerra/Toups beyond 2015, would be a bit concerned come april if these 3 haven't signed contract extensions.

Still not convinced Toops is worth what he's going to cost us.

I reckon we'll struggle to keep Guerra too, his next contract will be his biggest and probably only & last big pay day. For a bloke who's spent the bulk of his career as a Fringe First Grader the temptation to take the money and set yourself up for life may be too great to turn down and who could blame him if he did.

It's never a good idea to pay big on a winger. Mcdonald and a few others in the lower grades (mitchell, Milne etc) can make the step up.

On Guerra, I think that it is important we keep him. If it's going to cost us more than 300-400k to do so, then he may find himself going elsewhere. Last year he was one of our best, but anything more than that is going to take too much out of our cap.

a lot might come down to Uncle Nicks penchant for marquee signings, would not be at all surprised if we end up with someone like Foran/Folau/Hayne/Taumalolo in 2016 which would obviously hamper our attempt to keep the bulk of the current squad together.

I have two words for anyone doubting that idea.

Martin Offiah. Perhaps I am incorrect but he lasted half a game in 1993 before doing his shoulder.

Guerra won't be going anywhere currently in negotiations for an extension straight out of uncle Nicks mouth.
