Of course, to set a fine example for the clubs to follow, they should replace the Chairman of the ARL Commission Grant with a woman...and the CEO of the NRL Smith with a woman.
Maybe we can get the girls playing the game too. But in all seriousness what utter rubbish, best qualified person for the job regardless of gender in my opinion.
Apart from number crunching, spreadsheets & ledgers
"In the boardroom", how can any woman have empathy for a sport which originates from working class men
Like politicians Smith's words are cheap & he's trying uproot the soul of league to create a hybrid product for another segment
NASCAR have attempted this & they are failing miserably with plummeting returns & shrinking crowds.
Believe it or there are plenty of high talented women out there who have the business skills required to sit on a club board who come from a working class background and have a great affinity and love for the game.
Katie Page and Catherine Harris who have been involved in the NRL are great examples.
All they need is the opportunity, and they will add a lot to the great game of rugby league.

Supporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.
Can't be having that.
Men are the fathers of 'all' the girls playing netball [some girls could have 'two mums' or 'two dads'].
So, men should be on the board of Netball Australia.
The new affirmative action gender war in Australia demands it...as it demands that the next Editor of Woman's Day should be a man.
Smith wants to be careful with his gender war...Gillard tried it and is no longer PM, replaced by a man in a blue tie in her own Party, and that man was replaced as PM by a man in a blue tie from another Party.
Wonder if the NRL also has a 'handbag hit squad' like Gillard had?
If the Roosters start running out in pink jerseys, and 'feminazis' take over/are mandated in future to take over the Club as the condition of getting an NRL licence, and men are turfed out...I'll be protesting by staying right away.
Gillard and her 'handbag hit squad' lost miserably in their 'misogyny'/'gender war' and were quickly despatched to the dustbin of history.
Smith and Co can be de-hired as fast as they were hired...they don't own the NRL.
