2 days ago I sent an email voicing our concerns regarding the alleged name change to Stephen Noyce.
Today he rang me personally and the very first thing he said is there will be no name change, and the matter has not even been disgussed by the board....and that he truelly appriciates all the support and spirit the fans have shown over the last few months.
And he also stated that if there was evern real discussion on this or any other such important topic, it would certainly be sent to members for a vote.

What an impressive thing for Noyce to do

Hopefully they'll all just start ignoring Politis and his madness

Canavan used to call fans regularly who sent letters of complaint as well.

Its certainly a nice touch to know Noyce has continued on the tradition.

What I don't get is that the club is now saying it's not on their agenda yet Politis was talking about it to the media only a few days ago

Despite recent speculation regarding the Sydney Roosters a name change is not on our agenda.

The Sydney Roosters brand is strong and incorporates the long and proud history of this great Club. The Sydney name is known across the world and is a shaping factor in the Club’s identity.

As with any name change to a strong brand, a long and thorough process would be undertaken and consultation with the Club’s stakeholders, including Members and Sponsors, would be a part of that process.

The Club is looking forward to participating in the 2010 season with a New Attitude, and enjoying a New Beginning, as the Sydney Roosters.

Let the celebrations begin - Roosters management, more importantly, Nick Politis, makes a decent decision instead of chasing nonexistant financial goals.

They are Easts or Eastern Suburbs Roosters to me.

Bondi Roosters is ok, it is better than sydney Roosters, but its always Easts

I'm with this. To me, Easts is what they are. But I think Bondi Roosters is OK - its evokes the place. In a global marketplace, "Eastern Suburbs" is too generic, what ... they're from Dandenong? Whereas Bondi is specific, and an iconic placename too.

I've never lived in Sydney, but been a member and fan for over 30 years of the "Roosters". Don't **** with a great name.

Eastern Sydney Roosters

I know this is an old thread, but I am new to this forum and have strong feelings on this issue, thus felt a good point to start posting.

I voted Eastern Suburbs, but feel Eastern Sydney or East Sydney would be welcome alternatives. I really think the name of the club should include reference to our geographical origins and current support base. Roosters ARE an Eastern Suburbs club and the official name should reflect this.
