    Are you that stupid?
    I hope not.

I consider the "Eastern Suburbs Roosters" to be the name of the team I've always supported.
They damn well were'nt called that in 1908.

Regardless of what name you wish the roosters to be known as, if you are against the name of The Bondi Roosters, click the link below and sign the petition AGAINST the Bondi Roosters name.

It's always been Easts to me, always will be.

The club's NAME is 'Eastern Suburbs Rugby League Football Club'.

I vote for Eastern Suburbs Roosters.

There should be a "don't care" response in the Poll because I don't.

Whatever happens on this one for me.

I am not sure it is dead because of one crop of arseholes.

As Nick said, we played in four grand finals under that name (although two of them would be a good reason to get rid of it).

sydney sounds like a stronger name.
appeals to a hell of a lot more people then bondi or easts.
But most people refer to the team as just the roosters now, so i dont see why the need to change.
i say no to easts or bondi.

That's my opinion. I'm sorry if it offends you.

Yeah me too but only up until 1994.
They damn well were'nt called that in 1908.
No they weren't called Roosters back in 1908 but they were known as Eastern Suburbs.

As an ex soldier I can tell you that tradition is very important to me but skipping from "Eastern Suburbs" to "Sydney City" to the "Sydney Roosters" and then to the "Bondi Roosters" is as far from tradition as we can get.

The majority of our fans aren't from Bondi or even the Eastern Suburbs for that matter. Our team is based in the centre of Sydney and we have been known as the Sydney Roosters for over a decade (2000-2009). Let's hang on to THAT tradition.

To me it's akin to the New York Yankees renaming their team the Manhattan Yankees because that's where their stadium is.

I want the Roosters to represent the City of Sydney not a bunch of Bondi Wankers!

And the entire idea seems to be based on the premise that Bondi is famous Australiawide and worldwide

                        So what?

People in Perth or in London are going to start supporting the club and becoming members because its called Bondi?

Has anything to do with memberships...

They could easily sell quite a few jerseys and t-shirts though, on the beaches, in tourist shops etc etc.

Bondi is an asset to our club and we shuold use it, whether the renaming of the team is the right direction or not I don't know. All I know is that it's the name of the team not the club I support and I doubt I'll lose any sleep over it unless we become the breakers

Losing 1 fan because of the name is TOO MUCH !!!!

I can use an example in the corprate world.

As we know Westpac and St George merged a year ago.

Have you noticed that the St george branches have not changed Name or logo??

                                Why you ask???

We will step back to the 80's, Westpac took over bank of Melbourne in victoria. The rebranded BOM to westpac from day one of the take over.

45% of BOM customers closed accounts within the first year.

                                Why?

Because these customers associated themselves with the brand that was BOM and did not want to be thrown into the Westpac brand, it was there protest at the takeover.

Lets move back to the current day, the Stgeorge/Westpac merger was done in a way where St George keep their identity, allowing St George customers to continue with their chosen brand. I can tell you now that westpac/St george want 0 customer loss due to the merger, and they have been successful because they realise from the Bank of Melbourne mistake that people Associate with a brand.

While the Roosters are not going into a merger, the brand association is still there.

We have a Brand Association with Eastern Suburbs, our history, our tradition.

We have a lesser brand association with Sydney as the name has only been around circa 10 years.

The only association we have with Bondi is that the club offices were once based at the Bondi Pavillion.

Even back then, the club was called Eastern Suburbs, they had no need to change the name to Bondi back then............we have no need to change the name to Bondi now.

There is only 2 options............Sydney Roosters or Eastern Suburbs Roosters.
