But I think Milne would do a good job although he's a much better right centre with his right arm offload being a feature of his play. He's the best defensive centre in the 20s, has great tackling technique. And is a real weapon in attack. Considering he was close to selection for the WCC he might be on the radar. But in saying all that Aubbo deserves the spot as he's been excellent all year. Moga is nowhere near first grade at this stage unfortunately, unless it's on the wing which I suppose is an option - Mini, Tupou, RTS, SKD, Moga. Still wouldn't be a smart option.
I've never heard anyone mention that before.

Even Brainac and sTrewth and they hate Maubs cos he's better looking than both the carnts.

In fact I've only ever heard the opposite. Especially with SKiD at centre. The old put Maubs into the centres and SKiD to the wing cos SKiD can't tackle between two players.

Maubs is the best defender in our club, in any position. I recall last year someone posted the most effective defenders in the game and I'm positive Maubs had the lowest miss ratio in the comp.

I've heard people question his size and his speed but never his defence.

    That's out there.

There's no chance of Moga playing 1st grade anytime soon in my opinion. He's only played a couple games this year and Robbo doesn't take chances like that which is why it took Evans a long time to make his debut even when most people on here thought he was "ready."

From todays outing at Newtown, Moga is a long, long way off.
Very little involvement and poor defense.

Crumbs...but I ask our fans to cut him plenty of slack and then some..

He needs patience and confidence..be worth the wait.

I would hate to see him go elsewhere.

Bullcrap ...better than Jake friend? mate Friend doubles and triples Maubs tackle count and plays for eighty minutes not 20

I wouldn't expect to see Moga anywhere near first grade until he learns how to tackle.

Of course Jake will top tackle counts as he defends in the middle of the field.
Opposition players also run at him cause of his size.
I really rate Isaac Lui defensively.

On yesterdays performance for Newtown, Moga won't be anywhere near first grade this year. Dropped the ball three times at least and looked lost in defence. Its going to take him some time to get his mojo back. If he does play first grade this year, it won't be in the centres it will be on the wing I think.

Come on Backwards surely you're not judging a player's ability in a role based on what you hear or don't hear on here. He has never been as solid a defender in the centres as he is in the backrow. There is multiple occasions that I remember him making pretty poor reads and letting tries in when he's been selected at centre. He has the best tackling technique and timing in the team but that doesn't make reading the defence when you switch to centre any easier. Just basing things I post on what I see mate.

WOW Defensively I think Maubbs is one of the best centres I have seen for some time

If Jennings is out Maubs is the man.

I do think though he can struggle against quicker centres.

SKD will cover that side with Maubs on the right

Maubs is considerably slower this year. Twice he got on the outside last Friday yet couldn't get away or position his winger.

Defensively he could be found out big time up against those Tiger outside backs, they can be dynamite.

I hope Jenko is back in time.

                            Chook.

                              Brainiac you've lost it dude.

Better than Friendly, and only just might I add, in miss ratio. You know how many tackles they miss out of 100.

From memory they were 1 and 2 in that stat, both high 90s.

Maubs plays less mins not by choice. In fact I'm sure the coach would agree he's an 80 min player just with $BW and Boyd in the 2nd row who do you leave out???

If you ever watch when Maubs plays 80 he usually either tops the tackle count or is just behind Friendly. I have no doubt if Maubs played 80 every week he'd take that edge off Friendlys amazing tackling feats allowing him to play the full 80 every week, cos hed have someone else to carry a bit of the massive workload he does.

I wasn't bagging your boyfriend so don't bag mine.

                              Get it together maaaaaaaaaaaaan.

Never mate would I judge by what I read here.

Just making the point that I've seen Maubs accused of being too slow or too small but never making poor reads in defence, in any position.

I recall nominating Maubs early on for a move to the back row, well before my old dad Smiffy did the deed and listened to me.

I have always believed he's an oldskool lock forward, but conceded the position has changed these days, the middle third extra prop stuff which I know you understand.

We will just have to agree to disagree about his defence in the centres. Personally I can't recall him ever having a problem with that part of his game.

I think we both agree he's a back rower these days. And when required a great fill in at centre for a week or two.

I personally can't wait to see Maubs and Boyd and Che as our back row next season. Sure we will miss $BW but that back row is so mobile and skillful it will be better than most teams in the comp.
