Man refused bail over child abduction attempts
A Sydney father accused of trying to kidnap two girls has been refused bail.
Mark Hanson was arrested at his Castle Hill home, in the city's north west, last night.
The 49-year-old paint sales rep is accused of trying to snatch a six-year-old girl from her scooter at a park at South Turramurra in February.
Police also allege he was behind an attempted kidnapping on a footbridge at Westleigh in April, where a 14-year-old girl was grabbed and threatened.
Documents tendered to the court allege Hanson dragged her by her uniform, threatened her with a box cutter and warned he was going to rape her, but she escaped.
I could post another 100 such cases.
There's one happening nearly every day, detailed on the radio news bulletins.
They're out there, the bad people, watching, waiting to pounce.
In the Turramurra incident he actually did grab the little girl and was taking her away, when two brave ladies who were playing tennis heard the girl screaming and chased after him, fought him and rescued the girl.
