these are our resourses and we should be maximizing our profits to stay here in our country. increased taxes on the foriegn owners in any big business would be a plus.1911 1912 1913 1923 1935 1936 1937 1940 1945 1974 1975 2002 2013 2018 2019 2020

Why would the whole world be laughing at us at the current time???
I'm 5th generation aussie mate, and I have defended my country when people speak ill of it , particularly when I go overseas.
In the space of 3 seconds I've been made to look like that Farkwitt who burned our flag a few years ago.
All I can say about Labor is that ever since I can remember in the last 40 years, after every prosperous Liberal campaign ends and Labor takes over, they shoot themselves in the foot and sink the whole country along with them. It's not until the liberal party comes in and cleans up, that our country sees prosperity again. I used to believe in their promises they would make.......... I was young and Naive. I now know better.Bob Hawke and Paul Keating come to mind. Boy were they dark days.
Anyway fark politics is what I say, how did we get onto politics in the first place??? What was this thread about???Comment of the year:

Bullshit. When the economy is strong under the Libs, it's "good governing". When the economy is strong under Labour, it's a case of "they inherited a solid foundation". Fair dinkum, the Libs have nailed the PR, Souths-style.
Under Howard, interest rates were over 9, and under Labour they've been consistently under 5. Don't get me wrong, I know they were much higher under Hawke/Keating, but I'm simply giving an example where selective memory tends to kick in where notions of fiscal management arise.Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

Labor is woeful at selling its message and achievements. Australia came through the GFC better than any developed country in the whole world but they can't get their heads out of their arses with all the in-fighting.
Plus, Howard and Costello road along nicely on the coat-tails of Keating aligning Australia's economic future in Asia.
The Libs meanwhile, mainly due to having the popular media (News Ltd/Alan Jones etc) up their arse, and now they have finally shut Abbott up so he can't say anything stupid, have a better spin despite their complete lack of any meaningful policies.
I'm stunned anyone could want a right-wing fascist elitist prick like Abbott as PM.
He'll win anyway but if they switched to Turnbull Labor would barely win a seat.
