It's the classic Tory perspective - crying at the poor state of the government and the whole "the country's going to the dogs", while posting about it on their iPad while their healthy wife uses the macbook pro and the kids are munching down on clean food on the second of their LCD televisions (watching FOXTEL).

I've not once defended the Labour govt here – I didn't vote for them in the last elections and god knows pigs will be seen coursing through the air should they win the election this year, but this idea that a) the rest of the world are laughing at us and b) the Libs have better people or policy than this current rabble beggars belief.

My own business is doing it tough atm, but that is in no way the fault of the Labour govt. The global economy is fckucked and yes – we are in a bit of a bubble that will soon pop – but this is not down to the Labour leadership. The situation the global market finds itself in is in many ways a function of globalisation/greed/conservatism/Thatcherism/Reaganism at its worst. Your mates Abbott, Howard and co. are Rayndian to their core and will likely change policy based upon lies and fear, while cutting public services to do so – not that the cutting of funding to public services will affect their core electorate.

It's important to separate the people from the policy, and unfortunately conflating Gillard the person with her achievements is now de rigueur.

I also intend to vote for Labour in the upcoming election for many reasons but the roosters forum is not the place to discuss them.
Suffice to say that no one in our system of governments actually votes for a PM. We vote for a local member to represent us and the collective members of the successful party then vote for the PM. Abbott or Gillard could lose their seats but their respective parties still win the election. I think that the Labour Party is the best party to lead this country.

That's the great thing about a democracy!! Each of us can have an opinion and express that on election day. We will get the government that most people want. We will get the government that we deserve - for good or ill (which side you are on determines if you think it is good or bad!).
I have passionate opinions and like people to respect that but I don't need or expect people to necessarily agree with me. And vice-versa. Feel free to disagree and allow me to disagree. I don't think it is a right or wrong issue. Opinions will also differ.
One thing I will never allow and that is people who think ( wrongly) that there is a better team than the Roosters. My team is a team of immortals, win or lose.
