jets very ordinary today, slightly concerned by the lack of depth we have at the moment, Evans is the only one playing today worthy of a spot in top grade next weekend.

some quick thoughts on other roosters players on show for newtown today:

Henare Wells - has much better ball skills than Mini, but lacks size and pace to make first grade at the moment.

Oldfield - didn't show much today, mostly due to lack of any ball from the halves

Seluini - made far too many silly errors while trying to spark the side, can understand why Robbo has gone with Mortimer early in the season, Seluini needs to find the balance between structure/spark

Evans - was outstanding today, always putting his hand up for work, two vulcans knocked themselves out trying to tackle him, scored 1 try, a few good offloads, on todays form he is exactly what we need on the bench in first grade, yes you will get missed tackles/bad offloads but he is one of few players we have that can turn the tide of a match off the bench.

Houma - massive frame, hard to handle with ball in hand, wouldn't surprise to see him get a chance in first grade sometime this year.

Ailomai - seems to have lost too much bulk this offseason, much like FPN has lost that barnstorming ability since slimming down, would be way down the pecking order now.

Liu - had a very good pre-season with the top grade squad, was very in-effective today, got dominated in attack and defense, would be behind Napa/Evans in the pecking order

Arona - extremely dissapointing today, way too many soft hitups and tip on plays, doesn't have the size/ability to compete in the top grade and fingers crossed Robbo sees that Napa/Evans are much better choices going forward.

Good summary, adds to brief amount that I saw but most watch you said could be seen in that time. Must say hectic 24 hours for a team though.

Didn't see the whole game but Evans was pretty good. His runs are already good enough for first grade but he was off the pace at times in defence. When he was caught at marker he did struggle on occasions.

With Take, Symmonds and Cherro we probably would have won.
We better get some decent value out of LOD.
Our depth is a real worry.

We care too much about depth and how our lower grade teams play. We won the NSW cup last year but nearly got the wooden spoon in first grade.
