In any case, if they did away with the salary cap it would signal the end of more than half the clubs and the NRL as we know it. Pro sports without salary caps are in the extreme minority and they are traditionally top heavy, boring and predictable (see EPL or MLB)

In saying that the League will expand the comp to 18 teams over the next 10 years were I think they should reduce the franchises to 12 & make it a Superleague.

On the restraint of Trade stuff, I understand that Tutty fcuked himself with his heroic stance. He earned nothing during the peak of his career, then went on to see out his days as a somewhat injury-prone, standard first grader until retirement not long after.

I'd prefer a smaller more intimate comp that retains the traditional teams/stadiums:
- Easts (But with reclaimed territory from Souffs.)
- Souths (Merged with St George and Cronulla.)
- Norths (Playing on the lower north shore and at Bluetongue but merged with Manly/Newcastle)
- Wests (Tigers... merged with the Bulldogs, Riff and Parra... playing all around.)
- Wollongong
- Brisbane (merged with the Titans and Cowboys)
- Canberra
- Melbourne (but with all Victorian feeder clubs and a focus on poaching AFL players rather than QLD stars...)
- Adelaide (again... attacking AFL but also taking Tasmanians if possible.)
- Perth (with a focus on getting NT/torres strait players as well)
