  • ARLC to fine Roosters over SBW contract saga

apparently we are going to cop a fine from the ARLC for not supplying all the relevant paperwork involved in the registration of SBW's contract, seriously what a load of rubbish.

But St George could sign dual international Gasnier on a $50k contract with no questions asked? And the Dogs can sign an international every second week with no questions asked? The whole business is a farce.
I think the time is right to burst this salary cap restraint of trade bubble and take the bastards to court. What other occupation imposes such restraints on the earning power of individuals?

Make the commission millions of dollars from one signing, get fined.

Geez this ARLC is a joke if its such a major why did they sign off on his contract. These same muppets will be using SBW in every marketing exercise they can with no financial reward.

This decision is absurd. The contract should not be accepted if there are grounds to fine the club. These bastards want to have their cake and eat it too.

more to the point, if we want to do something yet don't want to do it properly, a fine is a fair call.

                          This one was tricky, though.
                          Unique.

Far from straight forward, and lawyers everywhere!

The NRL wanted to closely scrutinise the unique deal, under which Williams won't arrive until after finishing his Japanese rugby and boxing commitments in late February.

Further problems surrounded the dual international's agent, Khoder Nasser, who is not accredited to negotiate NRL deals. Schubert spent a month vetting the contract, requesting detailed documentation and interviews with senior officials.

Club chairman Nick Politis met the NRL solicitor, while a senior counsel was asked to report on the contract for ARLC boss John Grant.

Mattiske said: "There are a number of assurances on the part of the club and in relation to Sonny Bill's commercial agreements that are being relied upon in this process and that will be monitored,''

"Given the unusual features of this contract it was necessary for Ian to engage a solicitor to assist with the investigation which included interviews of a number of persons and a consideration of various documents.

Brian Canavan's words were that the contract was a simple vanilla contract?

The Roosters are the ones at fault.
