I mean RTS came from Yawnion, had 3/4 of a season in the 20s and a few games in 1st grade. Don't get me wrong he did a great job and I am excited with the kids future, but in all reality many have been in his position before and either injury have ruined them or they have been found out quickly.

Pooper IMO has as much cred as RTS when it comes to RL. Both have very little to be truthful.
As for the games Yawnion and RL being different, sure they are, but I can't think of two different sports so close in a practical sense. Remember the games both started as one and other than the play the ball/ruck and maul differences the basics of both codes are very similar. Especially for outside backs as previously mentioned.

In all reality signing Pooper is no more of a risk of signing Carntey was. In fact EVERY signing is a risk. It's the payoff that's the key.

IMO we don't really need Pooper for next season but if he was seriously willing to come to the club for opportunity to learn the game and work hard for respect I could see the value. Especially with Mini being close to retirement and Pearce off contract at the end of 2013, Poopers mere presence could inspire others to up the ante performance wise.

Competition within a club IMO is the ultimate motivating factor when it comes to performance. Injuries and poor form are guaranteed at some point. Depth is a rare commodity in the modern game.

I wish people would worry less about what the News fiLTh media spin and worry more about OUR club and it's ability to compete again.

Disagree slightly there STSAE....the way RTS performed in his first year in RL...including the brief stint at the top level was pretty outstanding.

I think we have a special one on our hands there.

Mate as I said I am excited by RTS and his pootential. I haven't seen someone that talented come thru our ranks in my lifetime.

But in saying that the reality is that I've seen many who have showed they have the pootential, have played a bit of 1st grade, and either injury or being found out have sent them to the scrap heap.

I've seen it in all clubs but it's been a repeated theme at our club since I can remember.

It's only my opinion, but I think Pooper has shown he can physically compete at the highest level of Yawnion. That in itself I believe puts him on par with RTS at the moment. Both are unknown quantities when it comes to their RL futures.

Personally I'd go with RTS, and I agree he looks special, but it's a funny game and things change so quickly nothings guaranteed.

I suppose I mean if we could get Pooper for depth I'd cop that. I wouldn't be happy if we lost RTS due to signing Pooper though.

        You know it makes sense.

That would be the thin end of the wedge

You are kind of right there but RTS clearly appears to have a better attitude than Cooper and does not have the mental scars of major injury nor will he have the media pressure on him that Cooper would have if he were here. Let's not also forget that RTS would be commanding about half at best of what Cooper will be on when he signs his new contract. It really is a no brainer. If Pearce decided to go elsewhere then Cooper could potentially play in the halves but I would not contemplate Cooper at Fullback and I would rather we stayed clear of him altogether. He would cop the Carney treatment from the Telegraph and then probably end up at Cronulla in the end

              Agreed Coqqers.

I still believe RTS's future is at 6, eventually. Watching him move, with ball in hand, he has that thing the great 6's have.

The attitude bit is so right. In comparison to Moga, who looked shell shocked in 1st grade, RTS looked like he belonged from the moment he stepped on the field in 1st grade. The boyish bounce in his step and his enthueasem gave me wood.

It looked to me that Moga, who is basically a power athlete, had been groomed for 1st grade physically but mentally he wasn't ready, he expected to succeed probably cos he always has physically as a kid, but 1st grade isnt the place for someone who isn't ready mentally.

RTS Is a footballer. He feels it. It's natural. It's fun. It's footy.

Just gotta hope the club sees what we all see. And hope he avoids the inevitable injury curse.

Pooper would be a huge risk. But hey the bigger the risk the bigger the potential reward. The downside of him ending up at Scumnulla is almost worth rolling the dice.

I'm a huge fan of the footballer over the athlete JFC.

Usually these days if you get a footballer he is an athlete aswell, but many athletes lack the smarts to dominate a game or even an opponent consistently.

I'd hate to be a coach at the top level, well I'd love it really like we all would, but to try and find that balance of footballers and athletes and get the best from them as a team would be a tough gig IMO. Bellyache, Dessie and Waynekerr have proven they are the masters of the balancing act.

Something living up here I like is the kids footy is still footy, not big lumps physically dominating smaller footballers, which is becoming epidemic in areas of western Sydney especially.

That's my only argument for Pooper. He appears to be a footballer first. He has that thing with the ball in hand. Utilized correctly that ability alone is worth 3 Mogas, IMO of course.

                  • If you can get the two of them for the price of one, why not?

Ian Schubert might have a thing or two to say about it, that's why not!

I think he is too small to be an All Black.
