I reckon that after 5 years out mate that he'd need all the help he can get. Obviously he thinks differently.
You know what, maybe he's right.....maybe all those teams putting in all those pre season hours have been getting it wrong for the past 105 years. They should just rock up in Feb, have a boxing match and then straight into it. Can't imagine why no one thought of it sooner.
Lets over look the fact that SBW has been training and playing all September and October, whilst our blokes have been jet setting to Bali and other places after winding up their mad monday piss ups...
I'm guaranteeing that they'll have had a more comprehensive and focused pre season, without all the distractions. And they'll be more phyically tuned for a game of rugby league, yeah.
You're right, having a god pre-season doesn't guarantee anything. On the other hand, having a very poor pre season can count for a hell of a lot.
No one can argue with you that his pre season is far from ideal but it is what it is and we have to accept it. The club has taken a punt on a freakishly talented footballer, so they see it as worth the risk. Not much we as supporters can do about it.

I don't expect $BW or anyone in our team to hit the ground running. I can't see us dominating from the outset. I would have thought the plan would be for $BW and the team to start slowly and finish the year strongly.
Something like Souffs in 2012. Get your injuries and lost opportunities out of the way early, settle on a team, then hopefully have some form and momentum after Origin and roll into the 8, setting up a shot at going deep in the semis.
Sure a great start and consistency and a high finish is what we all want but we haven't been that sorta side since 03-04.
I saw a Souths supporter the other day wearing one thong. I said to him, "You lost a thong you toothless stupid mongoloid bastard". His reply, "No I found a thong!"

You cant' be serious!! Who would plan to start slowly?? It should be hell for leather from day one.
You're already making excuses for them.
Mediocrity is unacceptable. We've had that the last 2 seasons. Enough is enough. I won't accept mediocrity and nobody should!
Other teams hit the ground running from day one. Why can't we!

the genius brian smith liked to use the tactic of starting slowly according to his own words. He often said that he used the first month of the comp as part of the offseason preparation. I fell off my chair when I first heard him say it but he repeated it often. What a joke.

Not overlooking the fact mate.....but he's been playing UNION. In one of the weaker union playing countries.

Agree mate. I thought about cancelling my season ticket, but that would be too drastic a measure.

According to many, our 08/09 Preseason was one of the toughest ever witnessed, and didn't that work out nicely in 09 when our players were too bored to give a shit. We need players to be fresh and injury free and if that means taking our foot off the pedal and making sure players are withstanding a proper workload then so be it. I think we need to urgently work on less strenuous activities in the offseason, like set plays, defensie reads and shifting across the line in defense.
