Go back and read the news articles. People have such short memories.
Nick Politis is a fan and an administrator. He hires and fires coaches and expects results, like we all do. He can walk away at any time and people seem to forget that before he took over, our previous CEO and his family were taking trips to Hawaii with the clubs finances during a time where we were struggling on the field. There is no smarter businessman than Politis and he has been one of leagues most powerful men for decades now. He has given more to this club than anyone here and here we are questioning his viability. Not Me. Politis IS the Roosters.
      +1

For all Nick's sometimes unusual decision making over the years, his financial backing and love for our club can not be questioned. Which other club has a private benefactor controlling the purse strings? Maybe only the Broncos with the Thouroughbreds. Better to have him than not!

I'd hate to see members given voting rights at the club only to see some stupid Flick the Nick ticket get traction.

        Chook.
Don't say.....Tony has had his placards and effigies in storage for a long time now, he's dying to get them out!

          Nick won't go anywhere.
Not for some flippant Internet campaign that asks for some accountability

He is the most clever car salesman I've ever seen.
Smoke and mirrors do nothing for this bloke.

          I love his passion.
          I love his generosity.
          I loathe his judgement.
          barbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!

The Telegraph run a story yesterday on Nick where they quoted him saying "You have to run it like any business," Politis says. "In the sporting world, we tend to accept the norm. People accept it all and life rolls on, because it's not their money. It's not my money either - but I run it like it is."

I dont dislike him but I have always thought that people over exaggerated how much of his own cash he was putting into the Roosters.

The question is would you rather have a hundred mill and suck on the field or $1.25 and win comps? No one questions the business acumen, it is the footballing decisions. As trew says it is about accountability. Obviously many here don't trust their judgement in being able to have a say in how the club is run, but others do.
I don't agree with a number of his decisions but I wouldn't be voting him out but I believe in making people accountable.

Some people on here can't even construct a sentence correctly and yet they want voting rights in regards to matters which are way above their capabilities of understanding. Talk about lunatics running the asylum.

Since Nick started running things in 1995, we have made the finals from 96-2004, then again 2008 and 2010. Included in that was 5 Gf appearances for 1 premiership as well as a number of preliminary finals as well. I would say he has given us the best of both worlks in his time in charge.

Not to cynics like Limo, who has nothing in his life intelligent enough to discuss, so jumps on the manic bandwagon of the burgeoning hordes of critics that reside in the chookpen.

I dont know if you realised, but typically they go hand-in-hand. I doubt any club could sustain itself and therefore have even a chance at winning comps if we didnt have money. So out of curiosity, where would these star players come from that would be earning less than 5c a year but win premiership after premiership?

As others have said, 5 gf appearances and a victory is not a bad record for nick especially in light of how poorly we were going in the period that directly preceded it.

Those who are championing the 'member run club' also have to realise that at this club, because our fan base is so fickle and small in number, we would never have a hope of generating enough revenue to run the club under that model anyway. I bet most of you are the same people that made those "Im not renewing next year" threads and statements when things werent so rosy as well and also the same people that jump up and down about membership prices and the rest that goes with it. Im not saying Im not too one of those people but we should be able to appreciate that the club is being run by one of the best businessman in the country who cares, has passion and the record to go with it. All the while criticising his judgement in the wake of the biggest shake-up I have seen at the club since he arrived in the first place. Wouldn't you say that robinson is an inspired selection and that bringing in POS a couple of years ago (with his cheque book playing a large roll) has virtually guaranteed our club a successful future or bringing back Canavan who saw the club through its best modern period and restructuring the football department to make it more efficient and streamlined also show some pretty inspired judgement?
