The only positive about Mini as captain (and he will be captain next season) is he's seen as one of the nicest guys in the competition and we will probably get a better go from officialdom due to it. Anasta has been hated by officialdom since the Cummins issue back in 07 and we've copped it 5 seasons straight due to it.

I like Kennedy as captain. Great leader both on and off the field. But he is only on the the field for 40 minutes.
Pearce will have to lift his game off the field. Imagine the Telucrap if he is kicked out of a bar while he is captain. But he is also only signed until next year as is Cordner.
If we are doomed to having Mini play out the season be it as fullback or wing then no doubt he will get the captaincy for one year.
If Pearce and/or Cordner re-sign long term then they are the two going forward. Only other hope is Maubs but he will need a massive year.

I agree with those suggesting Pearce and Kennedy as joint.
Cordner is a born trainer apparently and we could do worse than having him setting the example but his age has to come into it. Graeme Smith the South African cricketer was 22 when named Captain and it has worked well, however there are examples like in the AFL with the Melbourne Demons where they have joint captains who are 20 and 21. Both came off a good year last year but have underperformed this year. The pressure put on them has no doubt contributed.
Cordner seems like the type of bloke that will lead regardless.
Mini can't be Captain, especially with Smith as coach. How many coaches drop their captain? I'm all for Mini giving it another year, but it shouldn;t be as a walk up start. He needs to fight for his position, reputations should mean nothing.

Mini should not come into captaincy calculations for several reasons;
He will be hard pressed next year to keep his spot in the side, if you are being fair dinkum he will not be in our best 17.
He will be another year older and another year slower.
As Hawkeye mentioned, it is not ideal to have your captain at fullback. It just isn't really practical.
The guy will be retiring at the end of the year, we need to be looking at a long term solution.

Maubs for me, if I was the coach. I remember his early season form, his effort to help us win the Rnd 1 game vs Souffs, where he made his debut as captain. Speaks well in the media and I notice he is the face to sell the club next season on the official website.
His run of bad form this year came after ANZAC day, as did the whole teams run of bad form. The last few games he's started to look his old self slowly, as has the whole team. I don't buy into this talk of him struggling to retain his 1st grade spot next season. I believe every club needs a Maubs. I reckon he is often taken for granted by many of our fans. Talk to a lot of other clubs fans and they really rate the bloke.
I believe they will give Mini the gig next year, then I believe it will be the carrot to keep Pearce at the club.
I reckon Pearce would love to emulate his old man and be a club captain, and he is the logical choice due to his position and status in the team.
The FlogPen .
You know it makes sense.

I expect a telucrap article anyday proclaiming Mini should be our captain and it will be a "slap in the face of a champion if he's not blah blah blah..."
Chook.
I'd say that Ms Bootface will be the one who stamps her feet. She wants another couple of seasons of Slags. What better way to give it credence than to have that poor broken down ****...I mean Count limping around as captain.
