    DCE is a big improvement.
Hugo's "final audition" was against Cronulla?

20 games into his career, in his first season.

    Are you farking mad?

A 3rd kicking option would be interesting plus his ball playing lends itself to the modern day link role of a lock.

He'll also offer cover if 1 of the halves goes down! This could work especially if Radley is on the nose with Uncle Nick.

Do you think he could handle the physicality required to play in the forwards?

Are you going to sit out next season from following the Chooks when DCE signs & gets picked in FG over Hugo?

If given an offseason training there sure - worked for Ryan Matterson who came to us as a halfback

Savala is 6' 4" however still looks small alongside all the other units. Weight is 94kg.

            Spencer Leniu - Height 6' 0"
            Weight 110kg

Savala's frame could definitely handle more muscle.! The other positive with Hugo is his motor and willingness to always push through in support and scramble in D when he's required too.

I like the lad and hope we can still accommodate him when DCE arrives.

Most of our players were below par that game. Why single out a first year rookie? Incredibly naive take

The only improvement from this years team that was pumped in the elimination final by the Sharks is Robson.

I also think signing DCE will have an adverse effect on team morale if we offload Savala who is extremely popular amongst the playing group and is a local junior.

DCE will struggle imo and wish he retired.
You're entitled to your view but DCE was a top 5 half this year in most half dominant stats whilst Savala was out of the top 10 for most, going off those stats, reputation and career DCE is much better than Savala but again, entitled to your view.

Robson is a definite improvement over Smith, Toia will hopefully go even better in his second year as will Mark Nawaqanitawase, the rookies that played well this year will continue to develop also.

Really.....so Hugo steps up, understands and his happy to wait it out for a season. But no potentially piss of a local junior for a bloke at the end of his career

I agree that we could put Hugo somewhere in the side. I don't see atm DCE playing more than 1 season then he might coach, work behind the bar, be the ball boy or whatever.

                      Smart move from the Roosters?

                      • They bring in DCE for 1 year and option for 2 year
                      • Hugo is contracted for us in 2026

If DCE plays well and earns his spot, then it’s a good signing, if not and someone else is better he will likely get the tap on the shoulder (to retire), rather than be dropped, even if its mid-season. He then starts mentoring all the upcoming halves.

For Hugo, he replaced an aging Townsend last year.
Robbo and Hugo would of discussed Hugo’s best options going forward.
I imagine Hugo may work on playing another position this year, not just because of DCE but due to all the other halves coming up through the ranks.

The other Halves contending for the number 6 and 7 spots (or for DCE mentoring)

                      Sam Walker
                      Hugo Savala
                      Toby Rodwell
                      Jake Elliott
                      Reece Foley
                      Josh Durkin
                      Bo Peisley
                      Brooklyn Rosemeyer
                      Carter Mareko
                      Charlie Webb
Keone Anitelea-Tsioussis (ex Souths HM Cpt)

IMO it's the million dollar question and there's three pathways:

                        1. He does a Chad Townsend and we're stuck paying him $$$ to do stuff all. Okay we didn't pay Chad $$$ but you get the point...

                        2. He does a Cronk and we're all cheering. Best signing ever...etc.

                        3. He's a cut above Savala but only here for a season so delays his development without delivering a major POD.

I dunno about this stuff!!! Also WTF is it taking so long to register the darn contract. Just do it so we can stop thinking about it.

I think it will be announced on the 10th of November when they return for pre season training.
