    2. Tupou (Former Australia/Origin Player)

    3. Billy Smith

    4. Robert Toia (Origin Player)

    5. Mark Nawaqanitawase (Dual International/Winger Of The Year)

    6. Sam Walker

    7. Daly Cherry-Evans (Former Australia/Origin Player)

    8. Whyte (Former New Zealand International)

    9. Robson (Origin Player)

    10. Collins (Australia/Origin Player)

    11. Crichton (Australia/Origin Player)

    12. Wong

    13. Radley (Premiership Winner/England International)

    14. Watson (Origin Player) 15. Leniu (Origin Player) 16. Egan/Nat Butcher 17. Blake Steep

    ---

I don't even view him as a weakness but I guess the weakest player would be Billy Smith but he's still perfectly solid and even a standout at times. There is not one position we're weak in, even the bench will have 2 Origin reps on it, almost unheard of.

If we remain injury free I think we win the comp, on paper that side is better than Brisbane and Melbourne.
    You’re dreaming.

The only improvement from this years team that was pumped in the elimination final by the Sharks is Robson.

I also think signing DCE will have an adverse effect on team morale if we offload Savala who is extremely popular amongst the playing group and is a local junior.

DCE will struggle imo and wish he retired.

Let’s say a players ceiling is a 10 and the players listed below are on an upwards trajectory towards their peak.

Below is where I currently see them at out of 10

      Billy Smith 5/10
      Toia 6/10
      Walker 6/10
      Wong 5/10
      Steep. 3/10
      Spence 7/10

I can’t see the above hitting their straps and playing their best footy for at least 2 more seasons especially Walker who is key.

I highly doubt that Cronk at his best could win a comp with your above team next season.

It doesn’t cost us anyone. If they are both smart, they stay and learn.
Hugo would be silly to leave, where is he going?
Benaiah is not waiting 4 years, but you just don’t know how things play out.

Verrillis left and Cheese didn’t work out. A good manager would not be advising either player to leave anytime soon.

IMO the coaching thing's just speculation (as is the whole puff piece). Would suggest that if he does a Cronk and delivers a premiership then he's got a job for life. Whereas if he has a barry, he'll be given a Chad Townsend style send-off during one last game at Brookie.

Either way the bloke's frigging loaded as he signed for $1m a season over ~10 years VERY early on when that was ridiculous money for an NRL player. He'd be doing it outta passion / relationships... and maybe one last crack at a premiership.

Curious which players he's close to? Strange that guys like Mase and Choc have said he's a d!ck but the club itself has built a team around him. Hopefully he gels with guys like Friend and Walker.

Speeds the issue looking at that backline. It kills in the modern day game. Hard to see us running with the likes of Brisbane. You gotta have zip.

Agree mate, we have tall timber in the backline, but we predominantly only go the way of marky mark for his athleticism and freakish ability.

with DCE and walker, we may well have the worst defensive halves in the comp.

Not if a prized and experienced half is mentoring the next generation of halves.

Yes, but in our final game against the Sharks some serious weaknesses were exposed.

I think having DCE around Walker, Rodwell, Savala etc can only be a good thing.

How have Manly's junior halves gone the last 10 years?

They brought in an old Tigers hack and now an old Raiders halfback to replace him. I can't remember them ever giving a young kid a shot.

                    This mentoring stuff is BS.

We've had Cronk and now Keary for that.

You've all got short memories and refuse to acknowledge DCE's accomplishments.
He represented at all levels, won medals and is still playing ABOVE average at the chery ripe age of 36.
                      RESPECT.

Coach Trent has been a long admirer of his organising abilities.
Let's not overlook the record he holds for golden point victories. Kicks either foot.

I was replying to you claiming his mentoring was brilliant business planning.
I see no evidence of this in his 15 years at Manly.

It's a done deal . Don't be surprised if Hugo jumps across Anzac parade to the rabbits . Of all teams they are in desperate need of a half back .

Hugo’s Bronte neighbor is not playing for 10weeks and likely Au Go Go makes the 17. He has played various positions so he may well be selected for his versatility and that considered for future seasons. The big picture without having to get all emotional about a low level journalist article. Why be fussed by any league journalism ?

perhaps next to each player score them on handling errors and penalties conceded.

This has been our weekness for many years and they are both crucial in a 6-again era
