  • Sydney Roosters caught up in Brandon Smith drugs investigation

Fark me this is going to be a massive situation for the club, 7 players away on a golf trip being caught up in a drugs scandal what a shit show

    https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/nrl...25-p5mpo2.html

The Brandon Smith drug and betting allegations are set to have wide-ranging implications for the NRL, with the Sydney Roosters caught up in the Queensland Police investigation.

Sources with knowledge of the situation talking on the condition of anonymity due to the ongoing police investigation told this masthead that Smith allegedly reached out to a drug dealer to supply Sydney Roosters teammates with illicit substances.

Smith, who was in Sydney on June 7 and still contracted to the Roosters when the incident occurred, was allegedly trying to buy drugs for teammates who were away on the Sunshine Coast during a bye round.

This masthead has been told at least seven Roosters players travelled to the Sunshine Coast at the time of the incident in question for a golf weekend.

Smith was last Wednesday issued a bench warrant to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on September 18, at which point he will be charged on one count of disclosing “inside knowledge” for illegal betting and one count of supplying dangerous drugs.

By the looks of it - the 7 players there were ZDC, Chad, Rads, Teddy, Sandon, Hugo, Egan

Could work out well if it helps us get rid of Egan - ZDC, Chad and Sandon - who cares. Only concerns are Teddy, Rads and Hugo

You would imagine it would be pretty late to prove anyone bought or ingested drugs unless there is video proof. It would be he said she said.
But it will probably derail our season if names are dropped.

Cheese has been nothing more then a stain for our club on and off the field
was hoping it was young, sandon and Chad all going anyway
not good with a few players above named
would Teddy really be involved? It’s late now but maybe early 2026 there may be a player or 2 missing the first week or so of 2026

I would be shocked if Teddy risked it. I would be shocked if Teddy knew about it and allowed it. Same Rads. The kids are a concern.

The Cheese played on the weekend after being issued with a warrant to appear in court last Wednesday.

              They didn’t inform the NRL.

Surely Teddy and Chad aren't on the drugs

The article is wrong anyway as Smith was not contracted to the Roosters at the time, he signed with Souths for the rest of the year in May.

My take is Smith is prob the go to guy for nose beers but even if true (at least part of it would likely be) what can they actually do about it? The rooster player in question is one step removed form this. The NRL has had evidence of players snorting coke on film and done barely anything so they’ve set the precedent.

So it has nothing to do with Souths.
I think the hierarchy at the Roosters would have known & thats why they p!ssed him off.
What did Nick say again that he would get rid of any player that dabbled in recreational drugs. This will be interesting.

I would absolutely not be shocked by any of them doing drugs.

Eagle eyed pick up there on the dates. The club has taken tougher stance on drugs that other clubs have in the past so it will be interesting to see what direction they go or if they play it off.

Better this comes out now than early next year. We wouldnt have made a dent even if we made the finals. Next year however I am confident of a top 4 finish.
