If you tried to eradicate/ban all NRL players that casually indulge in 'nose beers', I'd conservatively wager ONE THIRD of them would be gone.

Coke is everywhere these days, and worst of all it is destigmatised among younger people.

It is now quite common in office environments in our major cities, albeit some industries more than others.

It's increasingly seen as a harmless party drug. And because it's expensive, it's viewed as a status symbol (just like a glass of Dom Perignon is).

Do I agree with it? NO. I can't stand cokeheads, it turns people into egotistical morons, the dangers of it are typically swept under the carpet, and I really wish it was not as destigmatised as it is.

But it also makes me puke that the NRL media (and the media in general) are going to clutch their pearls over this when THEY are the industry who is probably the worst for this sort of thing.

I would have thought that if Brandon is being asked to be a snitch in exchange for lesser charges, the cops would be interested in who he bought the gear from, not who he allegedly shared it with.

Someone jokingly made a reference to this being made to be all about the roosters by the media - and here we are.

If the 7 roosters players referred to have any decent advice, they would be saying absolutely nothing about their alleged activities behind closed doors - unless Brandon filmed them part taking. Otherwise, sounds to me like there is unlikely to be any useful evidence to go after young people allegedly doing what young people do on their days off.

Other posters are right, the pearl clutching and righteousness by the NRL media is sickening.

The Brandon Smith drug and betting allegations are set to have wide-ranging implications for the NRL, with the Sydney Roosters caught up in the Queensland Police investigation.

Sources with knowledge of the situation talking on the condition of anonymity due to the ongoing police investigation told this masthead that Smith allegedly reached out to a drug dealer to supply Sydney Roosters teammates with illicit substances.

Smith, who was in Sydney on June 7 and still contracted to the Roosters when the incident occurred, was allegedly trying to buy drugs for teammates who were away on the Sunshine Coast during a bye round.

This masthead has been told at least seven Roosters players travelled to the Sunshine Coast at the time of the incident in question for a golf weekend.

Smith was last Wednesday issued a bench warrant to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on September 18, at which point he will be charged on one count of disclosing “inside knowledge” for illegal betting and one count of supplying dangerous drugs.

Smith was released by the Roosters on May 13. If he was supplying to a team mate on June 7 he did it as a Vermin player.

Brandon Smith doesn’t help himself with some of the stupid things he says and he certainly is not someone you would call reliable. He has the previous incident in 2021 and now this.

How do the Roosters players know he can procure drugs? Is he also the Souths/Melbourne players go to man?
No other player was charged just him, but of course he is innocent.
It’s always someone else’s fault, he just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time again.

Maybe he was repaying his debt to rooster players in coke? Sure testing now maybe too late but a phone trail of sms, whatsapp messages the police would have got from Brandon's phone maybe very incriminating.

I hope not. The guy’s a complete fool and loose cannon and I wish we never signed him. I get the feeling Weedler’s comments may be the club firing a shot back at Smith by publicly dumping some of the stuff we’ve been keeping under wraps for so long.
