  • It was worth the trip to Brookvale to watch the boys in atrocious conditions.
Manly had a gale force wind behind them in the first half, as well as field position, but couldn’t score points. The gale petered out in the second half.
It was a fantastic defensive effort from our forwards. Vic in particular was defending right in the middle of the ruck, moving back quickly to get into position, and then all forwards moving up in defence.
It was a welcome change - hope the Roosters keep it up.

I couldn’t count a line break by Manly all game, maybe just one, when Saab got the ball.
Whoever thinks DCE will deliver us a premiership must be smoking the funny stuff - he did nothing all game but turn the ball back inside to his forwards - he was again , completely ineffective.
Thankfully there are the concrete stands at Brookvale to hide under and get some shelter -the rain pelted down the whole 2nd half.

    • Good win in the rain. Nice to see us control the game considering the conditions. One of our best performances of the year.

      • I cannot believe that we won the penalty count 8-4!

        • Seibold in his presser kept emphasising our 3 tries were from kicks. Fair enough, he's cut they lost and wants to diminish the merit of our win, but it's pretty poor sportsmanship to describe the Angus try as a try from a kick, as if it was a lucky lottery win. Sure it involved a kick at the end, but it was on the end of a 50 metre line break, required quick thinking and vision by Walker, and superb athleticism by Toups.

So yeah, Seibold is still a dick.

He's a sore loser, especially when it's against the Roosters.

Even more surprising as the Roosters’ play by definition is “fowl”.

That try was a thing of beauty. He's probably pissed that his side doesn't have that skill. Sammy down, the up, then kick to Toups......can't see DCE doing that.

FM Ebutch cops a lot. People see one error in atrocious conditions and that's his game. FFS
He was our second best metre eater behind Whyte.
                      40 minutes - 14 hit ups - 99m

                      Collins 46 min - 10 hit ups - 53m
                      Leniu - 40 min - 5 hit ups - 31m

Good to see Gussy running with aggression and purpose again.
Toia had his best game since SOO.

Our halves smashed their old pair.

                      3 - Sammy
                      2 - Gussy
                      1 - Ebutch
With Leniu is worth noting he had 32 tackles 0 missed in that time however...

It reminded me of a game at Penrith Park in 1983 in torrential rain, Roosters won 17-0 and both tries came off kicks, Marty Gurr scored both, one of a Kevin Hastings grubber kick and the other off a Hastings bomb, perfect tactics in appalling conditions, just like last night so Seibold can go get f*cked

I feel the argument works when it's a close game and you're saying 'we are not too worried about our defensive structures because they won by a try and 2 of those tries were 1%'ers that were scored off kicks so there wasn't much we coulda done about that'.

In this case Manly scored the 1st try off a penalty and then scored no more for ~60-70 mins despite having serious amounts of possession.

Given the conditions, there was a fair chance that a well placed kick with a few blokes chasing (e.g. Trbo, Saab, Garrick, Hoppa...etc) might lead to an opportunity.

Instead they decided to target Mark N with a heap of forwards, hoping he'd rush up so that they'd create an overlap. Guessing they were studying Chad's poddie during week as he was teaching us that old trick.

And no action against Manly when they lifted an opponent beyond the horizontal....TWICE!

Don't think there is much need to get bogged down in the error count.

                              The conditions were awful.

We were able to get the Sea Eagles, who are a top 8 team imo, scoreless after the 17 min mark.

                              Wonder how DCE feels.
