Your post at #323 is interesting R6 and very well argued. Who knew? It goes against the intuitive expectation that possession is king. There just seems to be something wrong with that as, mostly, teams whose completions are poor, usually lose. However, the stats give food for thought. Maybe the point is that very good sides can overcome a dearth of possession?

If we are signing DCE hoping a deal hasn't been done yet as his market value seems to be dropping by the week. He's set to be dropped by Queensland tomorrow when teams are announced.
I think at 500-600k it's a more interesting discussion because then if worst comes to worse and we have to drop him it's not going to be as detrimental to the makeup of our best 17.

Furthermore it's about the long game when a team is rebuilding so we're better off thinking beyond a 1 year contract.
My bold prediction and I've been nailing them of late is that this will be DCE last SOO game. The speed and intensity will demonstrate that he is too old and slow and QLD will get pumped in the opening game.
Anyway, having followed this great club for more than 5 decades I know in my heart of hearts that we're not silly enough to sign DCE. The future is bright at the Roosters! You just need to take the blinkers off and be patient.

If QLD does drop DCE you have to wonder just what is going on in the selection room. DCE outplayed the rest of the spine in game 1 and then came back and played very well against the Broncos, his game against Newcastle was an average performance but I feel he's played just as good if not better than Munster and then there is the whole question of if dropping your captain for game 2 is wise.
Away from DCE I also wonder if the likes of Reece Walsh, Selwyn Cobbo, Taulagi, Arrow, Horsburgh or Kurt Capewell will find a way into the team. I know some of these players are down on form but so are the players QLD are picking anyway...

Sacking your captain mid series is pretty full on!
I knew DCE was done game 3 last year and was surprised Slater picked him again.
QLD will select a more dynamic team and one that is capable of scoring more points. This is why I think Luai needs to partner Cleary as NSW will need to manufacture more points than game 1 to win.
I'm predicting that 40 plus points will be scored in game 2.

You can't coax a one club legend to do the unthinkable and shift allegiances in his last year, then hang him out to dry.
For better or worse, like it or not, we'll honour the deal.
Assuming of course there is a deal.
