  • For MCKS:

You might want to look at the Manly forum - it might give you an insight to what real fans think of DCE, rather than just rely on your own pre- conceived ideas.

It makes a mockery of your own assertion , in your own words “an unwillingness to learn and see someone else’s view defeats the purpose of being on this forum”

BTW , I do look at statistics when I think they are relevant. The important ones usually confirm what I have seen on the field. Stats also miss quite a lot of what is going on , in games.

I thought Cleary played fine, he just s*cked at conversions. That said, word is that the balls were cooked, which is why all the conversions, the drop-goal attempt and both sides' long kicking games were off.

      My two takeaways were that:
      - NSW got the job done despite being sub-par. Crichton's getting little credit but he was one of my favourites.

      - DCE and that Nanai/Toia combo were almost enough to snatch the win outta nowhere in a game where Crichton, Haas and Leniu completely dominated QLD. I was very proud of how all the Roosters (and DCE) handled themselves... including Watson, who arguably sealed the deal.

      - Who's the best of the best of the best? I don't give a toss as that's subjective anyway. All that matters is that the above players did good. Aside from maybe Collins? Dunno where he's at right now as he's been benched and isn't playing like a dominant, Australian rep.

Jerome is the best 6 in the game and then daylight.

Still unclear on what Daley was thinking with the Moses inclusion.
Not a chance they'll change the halves after a win Bates.

I'll happily take that bet Bates in good faith. More if you want. It can't be because of injury though. Both Moses and Luai must be available for selection. Let me know.

I thought Lindsay was more than up to it on Wednesday - carried the ball with plenty of conviction. He’s played 20 mins of footy in the last 5 weeks - he was good considering that imo.

Save your money Bates - the only way Luai plays is if there is an injury to Moses or Cleary.

              • Seeing DCE in SOO and figuring they're mega pumped for the outing, I never saw anything so special that I'd wanna sideline Hugo for DCE.

Hugo's had limited 1st grade and is playing like a veteran and DCE has more experience.

I'd prefer Hugo get that experience and DCE find somewheres else.

You put so much emphasis on stats - do you even bother watching football games?
Go to your back room , and pull out your stats for every player in the competition, in every game, and compare them.
You should have fun doing that
Meanwhile, I will watch football games , watch what players do and don’t do, and make my judgements based on that.
As do most of the followers of rugby league, fans on the Manly forum, Roosters fans, ex internationals who commentate , and coaches do - they watch the game.
There is no denying DCE is playing sh#thouse, you just want to gloss over that by quoting obscure numbers, that often can be manipulated to show just about anything.
Do you hear guys like Joey Johns , Phil Gould , Billy Slater, Laurie Daley or Trent Robinson quoting statistics ad nauseum when they assess their players performances?
                  Of course they don’t.
They just watch the football game, and judge on that.
The only important statistic for me is that DCE has created no tries for QLD in the last 2 origin games.
I don’t want to be drawn into your world of placing the upmost importance on statistics, because quite frankly it bores me.
I’d rather watch the football game, it’s far more enjoyable.

If you want to just watch the football game and only care about try assists you would know that if it wasn't for a professional foul than DCE likely leaves Wednesday nights game with a try assist, even as a staunch NSW supporter I'm 90% sure that Coates would've won that contest and likely scored a try. There was also the one try that QLD scored where DCE didn't get a direct try assist but it was his quick thinking, an offload and reflexes that helped get them over the line along with Jeremiah Nanai who had an amazing tackle to knock the ball loose.

You say QLD's last 2 games because you know DCE played a very good 2024 State Of Origin series and was the best QLD half by far.

Doesn't make a mockery of my own assertion, I'm happy to read any argument here but I'm not going on the Manly forum, why would I? I back the Roosters.

Oh, you do look at statistics? You just told me you didn't and that they are unimportant though..

I expected a retort like this, but I will make a few comments and leave this stoush once and for all.
How stupid can you be to state that DCE was the second best half in Wednesday nights game?
Cleary had about 10 runs where he looked dangerous with the ball, and Moses had about 6 -8 where he looked threatening and was about to pull the QLD defence apart. Add to that are a couple of try saving tackles by Moses.
Compare that to the zero threats offered by DCE and Munster.
Big deal that DCE put a kick up that almost resulted in a try - it didn’t. Anyone can kick a ball - it’s not real hard.

You are hallucinating thinking DCE had a good game - he is about to get dumped (mercifully) by Slater for SOO 2, if not, all of NSW will be laughing at their pop- gun threat for the second game.
You might want look at another recent DCE game where he was atrocious. He didn’t get into the statistics because there are no stats for “throwing crap passes that go behind your player when your team is in an attacking position “ or “ throwing crap passes that go over the sideline” DCE was racking them up in this match - it’s a recent Manly game.
Lastly , you say that I never take note of statistics. I Don’t think so , I only look at them when they are relevant. I quoted in a post , the second half stat of running metres in the recent Roosters vs Dogs game , posted by King Salvo - 941 metres for Dogs and 594 for Roosters , and I made the comment that the Roosters were never in it, despite other posters saying we were in the game with a chance.

I look at relevant statistics, not at irrelevant ones that you post - I like to ignore rubbish.

Anyway, I have said my stuff - I can’t be bothered continuing on the conversation with a deadset dope.

                        Do you accept Chookpen tokens?

We can keep tabs. It could be fun.

Big mouth Bates wanted to bet $100 cash. Then when you accept his bet, he jokes about betting with "chookpen tokens" and how "keeping tabs could be fun."

Put your money where your mouth is Bates. You asked for the $100 bet.

You'd never pay anyway so what is the point Bates, and with your endless nonsense.

I wouldn't have minded seeing Matt Burton at 5/8. The only part of the game that made NSW look vulnerable was under high kicks, which Burton excels at. He terrorised Queensland with them when he was in the side.
