Surely that's a throw away line "sign him up forever" for a kid who's played a handful of games....i like him too & think they've got a good one moving forward atm but not forever atm.

How do you know the change of clubs won't benefit DCE & us...& Manly didn't sack him..they wanted him to stay. Also he had a 10yr contract not life time.

Also why can't he bide his time & learn off DCE for a year/two to improve his own game...

Atm more people seem impressed with Hugo's big boot than his game management which is understandable as before him nobody could kick more than 30m (apart from Hutch).

If Robbo wants DCE then what do you think of Robbo?
That might be okay for Toby Rodwell to bide his time as a 19 year old and even Jake Elliot at 20 - not for players such as Hugo , Sandon and even Sam Walker who all turn 23 this year. -Be turning 26 before they get another shot an NRL if they hang around at the Roosters which would be very doubtful that they would.

Not saying i am..but even posters can lose form & their contributions can drop to reserve grade standards....it's a long season & poster comments can fluctuate each week.

I'm building for a top 4 poster finish...there's no rush.......any rain in Batemans Bay this weekend?
Very fair call Egg. And well said.

I think it might be you who needs to calm down. Or wake up. If you "really like" Hugo, invest in him. DCE could not have done one additional thing to contribute to the game last night, compared to what Hugo did. Not one thing. Hugo had another blinder. DCE would have contributed less. For 5x the price.

For a kid who has played 7 or 8 games as you say, he is a very good footballer. It's so incredible that you can't even see we have unearthed a really high quality local junior half, from behind your lets sign a 37yo half from Manly goggles.
It doesn't seem fair to compare Hugo and DCE but you're making the comparison so here are the weeks stats:

Daly Cherry-Evans: 6 runs for 40 metres, 1 try assist, 24 tackles, 1 missed tackle, kicked for 371 metres, 1 repeat set, 1 error

Hugo Savala: 7 runs for 24 metres, 0 try assists, 17 tackles, 5 missed tackles, kicked for 490 metres, 1 repeat set, 0 errors.

        ---

What the stats show is that DCE was better in attack (The running metres, the try assist) and defence (More tackles, less missed) whilst Hugo was better at in play kicking and that's about it. Funnily enough you say DCE could not have done anything to contribute to Friday nights game but a try assist from our halves would've definitely helped us along with experience that wouldn't have let the Dogs back into it and his defence would've helped also as 2 of Hugo's missed tackles lead to tries (Admittedly one not really his fault but still)

We can invest in Hugo and still win a comp next year with DCE. Hugo is willing to go on loan, let him do so, develop and come back in 2027 as a hopefully established first grader. I stand by previous comments that if DCE plays on Friday night then we win the game, if DCE and Sam both play together in the halves in that game we would've won very well.

But after 7 runs for 24 metres and 5 missed tackles if you think he's someone we need to sign to a lifetime deal then so be it, you're entitled to your view, I personally would wait a little while longer before heaping that praise on him.

Didn’t you just spend the last couple of weeks lecturing us that Sandon was the next Fittler but now suddenly you’ve ditched him for Sammy and Hugo?

Or is that your third personality in your multiple personality disorder?

Or just your standard hypocritical commentary?

or maybe all of the above?

You got found out last night by a bunch of us here and went into hiding pretty quickly you soft coq.

He is a gun, lock him up forever now.
If he is such a gun why has he only played 8 NRL games at age 23?
He has 1try assist and Zero line break assists. Missed 6 tackles on the weekend.
No need to lock him up.

One thing for sure DCE is not Cooper Cronk. If we are getting him we are paying overs and our recent recruitment is only for top liners . We need to lock up all the good young guys coming through and identify solid players to compliment the team. Still shaking my head why we ever let Tyrell May go I wonder if this is Robinson solely or are others involved surely Robinson must take responsibility

I’d be all for it if it means we keep him long term. Seemed to work for Harry Grant when he had Smith ahead of him. Will be great for Hugo to continue playing first grade and get first grade experience while he has DCE and Walker ahead of him. Also being at another club will make him

I personally loved his 1 on 1 tackle on kikau in front of our line saving a try.

could tell the difference in defensive sets when he wasn’t the one kicking.

                        Will go well with Sammy

What’s the point of signing DCE if Hugo is loaned to another club? Then Hugo would miss out on learning from him and only Walker and Sandon get mentored which I am against. Our aim should be Walker/Hugo and DCE only fits in as a mentor.

Hugo is such a good halfback, he's only 6 or 7 games into his career but he shows such calmness & leadership of steering the team around.
When Sammy comes back I think he has to play 5/8 & just let Hugo steer the team around.
Some people say their is no difference between half & 5/8 but I believe the 2 positions have different attributes. Your 7 conducts the team (main kicker) whilst your 6 is playing a roving role that he can pull off trick plays & off the cuff stuff & thats what Walker does best.
Back to Hugo he's one of them guys that doesn't make many mistakes & things go right for him a lot, his kicks his passing & his defence are top shelf.
If its not at the Roosters then Hugo will get picked up by another club because he's too good to be not playing FG.

Hugo is a gun. What part of his game have you not noticed? He has it all. Defence being maybe the most important of all. And he can run the ball, and his passes are bullets, he can set up his outside men, and his kicking is outstanding, and his support play excellent.

                                He'll play origin one day.

Lock him up forever. While you still have the chance.
