  • Hugo

Went really close to orchestrating a big away win against the ladder leaders. Watch the replay. He was in everything for us in that game. Kicking yes as everyone says, but he's always on the ball, he's always in support, his passes are like bullets, he can run straight, and rock solid in defense.

He is a gun, lock him up forever now.

Yup. And sign a guy who had a lifetime contract from another club. And who is now leaving after they've decided to move him on. A 37yo. Oldest player in the comp. For 5 times the price. I think it might be you who needs to calm down. Or wake up. If you "really like" Hugo, invest in him. DCE could not have done one additional thing to contribute to the game last night, compared to what Hugo did. Not one thing. Hugo had another blinder. DCE would have contributed less. For 5x the price.

For a kid who has played 7 or 8 games as you say, he is a very good footballer. It's so incredible that you can't even see we have unearthed a really high quality local junior half, from behind your lets sign a 37yo half from Manly goggles.

Savala is 94kg and 6'4''. Big boy for a half which can only ba a positive!

Hugo could potentially be 1 big game away from an upgrade. At this stage he's a Rooster till the end of next season.

I can't wait to see him team up with Sammy in the near future.

What a combo that could be, Sammy and Hugo.

Well balanced and compliment each others game.

Sammy just needs to work on his game management which will improve with age.

I'm still a big NO to DCE.

The club should have confidence in what it is doing.

S Walker will make a huge difference.

Hugo can take some or all of that responsibility off Sam, with kicking for example. I'm not sure game management should even be Sam's role. He's more off the cuff. If Hugo with his kicking and getting straight and good stability can do more of that, then Sam has time to be Sam. And put on his incredible attacking plays. Which are just about the best in the comp. He's been out for so long. Hugo is his perfect offsider.

That is surely the road we need to go down.

Very rare for 1st year NRL players to sign long term extension contracts as what would their value be in future years when they become an established player in whatever position they play in . - Of course the player market will be inflated with 2 new clubs being added as well - Perth/WA Bears ( 2027) and PNG (2028) - PNG may struggle to recruit enough quality players

1 year for year by year players but usually 2 to 3 year deals is the usual contract length - some can be signed for 4 years plus but they are usually well paid - That's the question mark over 10 years deals players have signed over the years including this year for an example - Jason Taumalolo ( Contracted to 2027) and DCE( Contracted to 2025) and now Dylan Brown ( contracted to 2035) - A lot of money for what return - Not sure the Cowboys or Sea Eagles got value for money - Knights may not either.

Hugo is listed as on a supplementary contract which is 80k for 2025/2026. - One assumes he may have been upgraded since now playing NRL? - Roosters NRL top 30 contracted squad is either 28 or 29 players - Taylor Losalu was also upgraded and extended and possibly elevated to the top 30

Geez calm down BBR...you his dad or manager?

Surely that's a throw away line "sign him up forever" for a kid who's played a handful of games....i like him too & think they've got a good one moving forward atm but not forever atm.

How do you know the change of clubs won't benefit DCE & us...& Manly didn't sack him..they wanted him to stay. Also he had a 10yr contract not life time.

Also why can't he bide his time & learn off DCE for a year/two to improve his own game...

Atm more people seem impressed with Hugo's big boot than his game management which is understandable as before him nobody could kick more than 30m (apart from Hutch).

If Robbo wants DCE then what do you think of Robbo?

Very boring post Egg, nothing worth even responding to. You have really dropped off Egg, talk about losing a leg, Egg...some of your previous posts from a couple of weeks ago were good.

                          Not so much now though.

Hey hey c'mon....I thought we had a nice truce thing going for a while now.

Not saying i am..but even posters can lose form & their contributions can drop to reserve grade standards....it's a long season & poster comments can fluctuate each week.

I'm building for a top 4 poster finish...there's no rush.......any rain in Batemans Bay this weekend?
