He won’t be there when Walker is back, but he would make a great utility/dummy half from the bench. Defensively better than ZDC and has more zip. ZDC has been good, but I think Sandon Smith will be better.
I actually don’t know about this! Maybe as a 14 for dummy half but certainly not a half

Players I would cull from tonights 17 now or at the end of the 2025 season are listed below. This opinion has been formed over a period of time.

      Egan Butcher
      Sandon Smith
      Lindsay Collins
      Certainly agree here bates

I have never rated Egan and still don’t - why did we re sign him? Certainly dropped below steep and foketi allready

Lindsay on what $700k or higher just doesn’t have it.
so slow and no footwork too much of a liability now

tbh the way guys that are underperforming are going don’t be surprised if they are next

Some big games to be played before then.

Sandon is the better fit stylistically but Savala has played the better and more consistent footy during their time as a pairing.

If Sandon can straighten up and play more direct I think he's shown he can do a job as a supporting 5/8. It's when he plays sideways trying to pick up option runners and whatever that stupid dummy out to one hand is as he drifts across the field that he gets himself into trouble. If he plays more up and down and just runs the ball more over the next two weeks I think it's an interesting decision to be made. If he continues the way he is going it's going to be as equally interesting to see how a Savala and Walker pairing would work..

I would absolutely love if we got rid of Collins. Sounds harsh but my word he is a deadset relic of the past. He is so ineffective in the modern game and hasn’t been the same since he’s had a few head knocks.

I see him draining the cap at the Dolphins or something. We have so many young blokes coming through that are doing a better job. He’s our new Nate Myles. Rubbish for us, put him in a Maroons jersey and he’s superman.

As for Egan, he shouldn’t be in the side. End of. Not first grade standard. At least not at our club.

But geez that forward pass on the 1st tackle 5m out after we had them on the ropes was unforgivable FFS.
As was his flick pass to the opposition when we were attacking their line 5 metres out, total Coach killers..

It wasnt Sandons fault we lost.
The Toia try that was disallowed would have won us the game so that was more costly then Sandon.
In saying that when Sammy is back him & Hugo should be the halves.

I hate to say it but a couple of weeks back when everyone was going wild about Sandon Smith and how we don't need DCE anymore because he carved up the Dragons I said lets wait and see how he goes against the Bulldogs, unfortunately I was right.

3 errors which was the second most of the game, an uninspiring kicking game, his running game which is what he's meant to be great at offered nothing and with the game on the line and the team trying to hold onto a lead/build the lead he made multiple mistakes. All he offered tonight was a great run down field off the back of a Bulldogs mistake and the one linebreak which lead to us getting in the opposition 20, aside from that there was nothing.

He is perhaps an NRL utility at a lesser team but I'd put him at NSW/QLD Cup or Super League standard, that's it. To think, someone here was saying that Sandon Smith is almost as good as DCE, if DCE or Walker play tonight in place of Sandon we win.

He threw 2 poor passes when we were 5 mtrs out twice early in the play
plus not hitting the right option short or out the back week after week you can see he gets confused and has no idea

He has been a major part to us loosing 4 games now so the whole decent performance v the dragons has lost its measure for me

I said utility because he can cover a few positions if there are injuries.

Yeah, The thing is you need to set the bar high if you want to win a comp and sometimes you need to be ruthless as a coach and move players on. They'll find a gig elsewhere as they can obviously play footy.

Sandon will only ever be a 14

Matt Burton’s boot, Egan’s dish up and our poor middles after Leniu went off have a lot more to do with the result than a last set Hail Mary from a 20 year old half back

It burns when you're losing by 1 try against the top of the ladder and are like... our halves are two guys who nobody aside from Roosters fans are gonna have a clue about!!!!

Shows how close we are though. No disrespect but insert Sam Walket and Reece Robson... game over NRL! Faaarkin game over.

If only we had the 2020-2024 squads in 2025 ay! I don't think the Doggies will win it but fark me. This year is for the taking whoever can finish top 4 and go hard.

Sandon always looks anxious when he plays. A Sports Psyc could help him overcome the obsticles and unleash his potential. To me it appears that it's all mental when it comes to his poor form. Fix it and he plays more like he did on Anzac Day and on a consistent basis.

100 words or more yet still haven’t answered the question. Perhaps you need to see those next few games before doing so.
