  • Sandon Smith is our Luke Brooks

Little fella tries hard. Little fella has the occasional brilliant game.

but little fella is and always wi be big average and we will always be bog average while he is in our side.

For those who keep defending his place in the team, do any of you genuinely see us winning a grand final with him at 6?

He and Savala are the best options we have at the moment.

Got to be pragmatic about the current situation we find ourselves in.

Our saving grace is that Sammy will be back to ice games like this one.

            A bit over the top.

He won’t be there when Walker is back, but he would make a great utility/dummy half from the bench. Defensively better than ZDC and has more zip. ZDC has been good, but I think Sandon Smith will be better.

Sandon can really misread what's in front of him- it happens too often for it to be just one of those days. Some of his options in attack tonight were diabolical. The forward pass on the second tackle (after Tracy dropped the ball) when there was a 3-man overlap – it was simply a let-it-go-through-the-hands play. Even if he didn't throw it forward, why even think about a short pass?
He also elected to run the ball one off after a long break when we had the Dogs shot out wide-again just had to go through the hands

In the end it was just another game that the boys lost rather than the opposition winning - we hand it to the opposition on a platter.

I think we would have been at least 6- or maybe 8 points higher on the ladder if we had Sam Walker on the field this year

My feelings are clear about Sandon lol....but yes, as a 14, he is miles ahead of ZDC

Sandons doing his best & he's the best option atm.

But geez that forward pass on the 1st tackle 5m out after we had them on the ropes was unforgivable FFS.

Where is that psychotic gibroni that came out after one good anzac day game to blast everyone here who dare question Sandon’s ability, in a completely idiotic thread?

The kid just doesnt have the football smarts to get us over the line.

                        Yeh, that was really deflating.

I don’t want to pile on him too much straight after a loss. Particularly when there were a few culprits this evening.

I will say though it was a very Sandon game. Moments of brilliance no doubt. Flashy, all effort and can pull out some quality. But in the moments he needs to own, he doesn’t. Usually when he has to think it doesn’t end well. He is all instinct , no footy smarts yet. It might come but it will take a while. That’s what makes Sammy so special. He’s got both.

We could always wrap him up in cotton wool and save him for next years Anzac Day Clash against the Dragons.

Players I would cull from tonights 17 now or at the end of the 2025 season are listed below. This opinion has been formed over a period of time.

                              Egan Butcher
                              Sandon Smith
                              Lindsay Collins
