very up and down performance by some good attacking plays and same very average defence
the Manu send off was atrocious he his his chest, if hammer stayed down why wasn’t he sent to the HIA?
let’s hope manu gets off and injuries are not to bad. Collins will be back after the bye, hopefully young hammy not to bad - butch didn’t look great
3. walker - won the game for us with 2 freaky tries, 8 from 8 kicks and 24 point haul
hard to really find any other standout
2. Watson had some good moments
1. maybe teddy or sitili
the bye comes at a great time to freshen up, the origin boys look a little tired and stats back compared to during SOO
and we look very Rusty
Have a week off and come back strong
I'd give -5 points and a pot plant to Brandon Smith who with 1 minute to go and the game on the line tries a grubber that goes straight to a Dolphin....instead of putting in the hands of Magic Man Sam and let him do his thing. Robbo needs to revoke Smith's kicking license.

All they did was cause Latrell grief and ridicule when Latrell did them for Souths, ...and they're doing the same for Keary and therefore us.

Since when did eyes for the ball become the only thing that matters when obstructing or taking out another player.
By that logic you could just send your props charging at wingers mid-air so long as the prop is looking at the ball it’s fair game….
Absolute nonsense.

Side note... it was a shyte game but IMO a difference between this season and the last few is that we seem to be winning these shyte games.
IMO context is important as it was in Perth, the Dolphins are a stacked Wayne Bennett team (they're basically the last ~5 years worth of Storm players that it can no longer afford to keep together) and my conspiracy hat tells me the refs engineered a tight finish. This included by giving them 2 quick succession tries (by punting Manu then saying 'GO BOSTOCK, FARNWORTH AND HAMMER... GO AT THAT HOLE, I WILL GIVE YOU A PENALTY FROM IN FRONT!!!') and then a 2 pointer for no apparent reason.
We also had situations with JWH, Collins/Rads, Young, Manu...etc that farked us around (our bench was 1 man at the end I'm pretty sure with no Young / Manu on the field making it p!ss easy for Bostock, Hammer and Farnworth to make eeeeeasy metres. Add a few penalties / 6 agains to the table and well, go figure!)
Conspiracies aside, it was a shyte show 'expansion' game with the Dolphins on display, showcasing how good expansions are. We didn't play very well but we faaarkin won and have got a bye now (followed by what SHOULD be a heap of 'easy' games to end the season).
Big picture - we're HOPEFULLY in a position where we'll finish top-4 but for a ridiculous collapse. From there we're playing an away game against Melbourne or Penrith. I hope we get the luxury of being able to rest players in the final round and have no injuries/suspensions going into the finals. To me that's our big prize and games like last night are just a distraction that we've gotta endure.

All good and well to get the 2x points last night and this was the second game in a row where we have narrowly won (mostly due to our own performance deficiencies) but I'm really concerned as to how we will go against the teams in September especially against our "kryptonite" sides like Panthers and Storm.
Only a few games left so I really hope we're about to activate a new game plan / execute order #66 as we march towards September because at the current state, we're just not good enough.

always good the day after the win. we'll be favourite in every game before the semis and are well set to give the comp a crack. we had a lot of boys in origin and the week off we'll allow them to freshen up, jwh is back soon and joey will be better for last night's run.

Look Penrith and melbourne are rightly considered by bookies more likely to win the comp, and our stats against them are damning. But they literally mean nothing if and when we meet them in the finals. The won't be meeting us and saying, oh look they never beat us, it's all good - they'll be worried. Plus we are due to beat them - and at the right time, rather than a mid round game which really means nothing. It would be different if we were pumped by a side like Melbourne, but we played badly last time and were try behind with 9 minutes to go.
I believe we have the side capable of jagging this premiership. Of course a little luck wouldn't hurt - and we are due this too. Plus we'll more than likely have to beat Klein or Sutton too - WTF happened there? Didn't everyone say Adam Gee gave the best refereeing performance ever in last year's GF? And yet here we are with Klein reffing all 3 SOO games and sitting as the "number one ref", with Sutton as number 2. Gee mustn't tick all the "game manager" boxes required by the NRL.
Plus, this is Vlandys Ball now, a different game from rugby league, which we won the last 2 comps playing.

IMO we went in 50:50 and it was a shock how things turned out. We got ahead early, Munster lost his cool and the rest is history. There was no contest in the end!
A GF is a GF. I reckon we can comfortably beat all of the top-8 teams aside from the Storm and Drizz (by comfortably I mean that it'd be pretty disappointing if any of them beat us). IF we can make the GF (assuming it's not Drizz v Riff) then IMO we are a better chance than any other team of winning it.
If we make a GF then all stats/reputations can be thrown out the door. Like Origin, it's about who wants it more. If it's the last game for JWH, Manu, Sua'ali'i...etc then I reckon there's an argument that we're gonna have more reasons to bleed for it. It's purely a matter of the boys showing up (which if we're full strength, hungry and gain early momentum... pity help ANY other team in the comp).

If Sandon Smith is our future five eighth he needs to be playing. Getting 14 minutes every couple of weeks isn't good for his development.Born and bred in the eastern suburbs.
