"if it ain't broke" must be the King of conservative tropes and where would we all be now had it been gospel over the centuries? The 3 Field system of agriculture worked well, as did the wheelbarrow, the horse drawn plough, Feudalism and child labour but, still, the confused among us nod their heads sagaciously at the utterance of a hackneyed nonsense phrase which also played its part in stymying our Republic referendum.

It is a monumental red herring when applied to the Game. Who could watch/endure replays of contests from the past and not think that it has been improved immeasurably as a spectator experience because of rule changes (and there have been plenty of them going to the most fundamental aspects)? It's a different game now and the huge increase in its popularity as entertainment is down to rules pragmatism. Rugby is a good example of how to commit sporting suicide by shirking change.

Good change for us as we are one of the worst at 10 metre dropouts.

Anything that makes the game flow quicker is a good thing.

I disagree, I think in the quest for this sped up game that flows quicker we’re killing variety.

Being able to slow down the clock by kicking into touch is no longer a thing as there are scrum clocks… there’s no value in finding touch these days, this rule change will probably stop sides from dominating field position by camping on the opposition’s goal line through attaining repeat sets, every side will just attempt short 10 drop outs now as the risk to reward is so heavily incentivised to do so, you can’t tackle an attacking player in the air so now every side just bombs to their wingers, centres & second rowers… you rarely see a grubber.

I worry that every team will just start to play the same style, with the same tempo & take the same ‘options’ and therefore every single player will start to play the same way all in this quest to have the quickest, fastest game possible.

Yet another needless rule change trying to make teams play a certain way or speed up a game that is already the fastest football code on earth! All their stupid rule changes ever do is have unintended consequences, forcing them to make MORE rule changes! Stick to administration!

As soon a Craig Bellamy retires from coaching every rule change should be run by him . So he can explain the negative flow on effect that will occur down the track. The people that make these rule changes don't understand the game enough to be making them.
