  • Another Rule Change

Starting this season. From a line drop out Should a team not kick it ten metres or kick it out on the full A shot at goal can no longer be taken snd instead it will be a restart ten metres out in front of goals. Thoughts ?

Good change for us as we are one of the worst at 10 metre dropouts.

Latrell will be happy about this too.

Anything that makes the game flow quicker is a good thing.

I’d add to that change by allowing attacking teams to be able to jump for the ball if it’s inside the 10, this will stop kickers from aiming too short .

So it sounds like you were allowed to take a shit at goal but now you won't be able to.

Good move, all for cleaning the game up.

                    Me? Never mate..

Just on the rule change, there's some discussion online around it taking away the big collisions off the long kick offs and drop outs. Thus reducing some concussion risks. Mixed feelings on that one.

Other thing is Coaches and deft kickers will exploit it with shallow hard drives to the touchline being difficult to counter, with less risk to the defending team now.

So many bloody rule changes in our game. If it ain't broke..

How interesting So do we assume now if the ball has not travelled ten metres that either side is at liberty to touch it without risk being penalised

Vlandys with another stupid rule change that wasn't necessary and was fine just the way it was. Might be cynical on my behalf but just because it was very costly against the Broncos in the gf he's pulled this out of his backside.
I think it reduces the effectiveness of the grubber kick for a repeat set which is a reward for continual pressure in attack.

So they're encouraging teams to take a short drop out.

Personally, I love seeing the big boys charge back at the defensive line from the half way line.

I am not a fan of this at all. I don't see any necessity for the change and I don't see how it improves anything. I am happy to be educated on the matter by those that do.

We better start practicing these both in attack and defence. We would have to be in the bottom of the league for both without a doubt.
