IMO it's another change without a clear need. Also, IMO it's gonna be one of those obscure rules that people genuinely won't know about in years to come if you ask them what happens if you shank your drop-out.

Taking all the risk out and rewarding the team under pressure.
      makes sense
      not

        Happy new year everyone.

I see there are some mixed views here on this one. Personally I don't like the change. You are basically rewarding the defending team for stuffing up their drop out. Another rule that didn't need to be changed by PVL.

I’m getting tired of Vlandys messing with the rules of the game every year. It seems to be a way of manipulating the competition as a way of favouring certain teams and their style of play.

NRL are always tweaking rules to take pressure off the weaker teams. Its another way to reward mediocrity, although are pretty mediocre at short drop outs and kick offs but Im not sure the change will help us.

Probably a good rule change for us as we are crap at the 10 MTR line drop out .In saying that still don't like it .

So you're up by a point with seconds remaining and you have been foreced into a line drop out. Just kick the thing into touch on the full and force a play the ball 10m with your whole defensive linew set for a charge down. What a stupid rule change. How about we look at things that actually need changing such as a 7 tackel set when somebody drops the ball over the line, or when an attacking kick dribbles over the dead ball by inches

                  Why not just kick long

No I wrote the attacking team is allowed to go for it, I want to stop the defending team from exploiting it by kicking and very shallow drop out.

Teams will do this 9/10 and eventually the rule will need to be tweaked again. I wish they'd stop messing with a game that was once perfect. Who's driving all of these changes? Is it betting companies, channel 9, KFC?

Id change the golden point rule. If the game is tied up at the end of 80 minutes then play 2 x 5 minutes halves and whoever is in front in the end wins. Losing by a field goal with no chance of replying is too harsh IMO

So you think a play the ball from ten out in front of the sticks is easy to charge a field goal down I would go with 08s idea and kick long

                            Fatrell wants to know.

The new goal line dropout rule will encourage the kicker to blast his dropout towards touch along the ground 10-15 meters out, with the only penalty for getting that wrong being a play the ball 10m out. Stupid rule change. They're doing it to reduce head knocks due to the collisions that happen from a long kick and the ball carrier charging back into the defense. Not properly thought out though.
