    Their form suggests otherwise.

That's as may be, but Fittler aint the sharpest tool in the shed.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

He knows his footy. Not his fault when 13 players on $$$ can't seal the deal against 12 players in the final 10 when they're ahead.

For whatever reason QLD has been more successful at Origin level by a fair margin. I don't think it really matters who's coach as guys at that level know how to play footy already.

It's more of a figurehead role. You're expected to put on some motivational / team bonding sessions and take full responsibility when they lose or mess up. Literally anybody could do this. However since you're dealing with Origin players, you need somebody with adequate an profile within the game.

Wonder if Mase would be keen? He loves to talk about footy and has played for Australia

mase actually surprises me with his footy nous, he is not an idiot , and at least has the balls to voice his opinion unlike some in the media .

his podcast with Justin horo is actually pretty good no bs unlike the billy slater & freddy & the eigth.

Agreed. I watch it regularly as I feel there's a heap of stuff (including technical aspects of the game regarding defence systems...etc) that you're only gonna know if you've played footy at that level. Also, I get the feeling they just love the sport...

If only you had the capacity to formulate a post like ism22. Your pathetic ad-hom attacks only reveal you to be a nasty, low-intellect person.

SOO is won and lost at the selection table.

I’d pick someone like Jason Taylor or Justin Holbrook who’s still close to the game and would have a good read on players.

Build a simple game plan because you’ve only got a few days to communicate it and train for it and then surround them with some ex-origin players who understand what it means ala Paul Gallen, Boyd Cordner, Danny Buderus, Brett Morris etc.

Freddy is that far up himself he gets a stay of execution and thinks he can negotiate...

See ya Freddy don't let the door hit you on your way out

He may not be the sharpest but he could be the biggest

You're happy to question Freddie's intelligence, but when someone questions yours in response, it's a "pathetic attack"?

Careful Carlos, you're proving me right

He's better suited coaching Norths in reserve grade. Perennial bridesmaid.

I didn't 'attack' him. I voiced my opinion that he is not very intelligent. Had I said it directly to his face, or on his social media platform(s), then maybe that could be considered an attack. I apologise if that upsets you.

Bit harsh, he was our Assistant Coach for the 2018 premiership. He's actually done a really good job with the Bears during our partnership. Like Robbo he has grown the Bears brand off the field as well so that they are in a better position to compete for readmission to the NRL. I believe he has signed on as the Bulldogs assistant Coach next year.
