At the risk of getting Sally wet, we had better utility in Hutch.
If Bots get wet they may break. That wouldn’t be so terrible.

It’s always good to have depth but yes Sandon really proved himself as a great 14. Hard for Watson to displace him. I like Watson’s energy and the fact he came through our system but would t be heart broken if he left… unless he went to Souths.

Like him, wouldn't hate it if he re-signed but don't see the long term value in it.
Watson only played hooker when Verrills was injured, for the rest of the year he rotated with Radley at lock. His utility is a bonus, not necessarily his role in the team.

He was very good at the back end of last year playing as a middle forward and I would expect that wpuld be his role again should he re-sign.

          That's what I said, he's not a hooker.

I agree he was good last year but whose spot in the 17 would he take?

No one has really locked down that rotation spot with Radley though, we've used Tupouniua, Crichton, Nathan Brown, Egan Butcher, Siau Wong there but there's never been a regular in that position.

A lot depends obviously on whether Crichton stays or goes though.

            • According to Weedler, Angus is still trying to organise a code switch and talks are underway with two Rugby franchises. The Sunday Telecrap on the other hand says the Roosters are stepping up negotiations to extend the contracts of May and Wong and a lot will depend on Crichton’s future.

Hopefully he goes. Not sure why the club would be the least bit interested in negotiating with him. We clearly don’t want him otherwise we wouldn’t have told him to start negotiations elsewhere. Slap in the face really from Angus to begin with considering we stood by him after his couple of ordinary years & then his dabbling in dubious things. I wonder what he’s up to overseas at the moment, probably reliving his post World Cup escapades & enjoying a certain countries delights.

I'd say Sitili should get the middle rotation spot. Good game breaker. Keep Wong and Nat in the backrow.

                  • Josh Curran anyone?

                    Good replacement for Angus!

I think we can afford to let Angus go an not seek a like for like replacement. We have good depth in the back row. The emergence of Wong, return of Sitlili and Watson along with the Butchers and Radley will have us pretty covered next year.

                      • Call me a cynic but this whole Crighton saga doesn't quite sit right with me.

At the beginning of the year the club came out saying that he was dealing with mental health issues. Then of course all the rumours came out.

Now he has the best wishes of the club to leave for another code. He even had a stint in reserve grade late in the season.

We will never know but there may be more to the story.

I would imagine Dragons and Tigers are a better chance of regular first grade.

I'd take him, perfect #13 for those 15 games where Radley is suspended

I wouldn't read too much into it Vas. The club knows he has not delivered for someone on that amount of coin. Contrary to public opinion, we do not have a bottomless salary cap and we really need to offload him to keep some of these talented youngsters, some of which have surpassed him in terms of onfield performances.
