seems RU contract was for $400k a season, yet his manager claimed it was $800k as a bargaining tool for Angus moving forward. He was either trying to get the Chooks to pay more to keep him but then they happily let him negotiate.
Looks like RU pulled out due to his managers demands, so surely puts Angus in a bad light either by his choice, or by having a shit manager who’s played his own client. He obviously has no RU chance moving forward after burning bridges & not sure many league clubs would pay his current price due to his issues & poor performances. Surely helps us next year as we offer $500k or let him walk when he finishes his current contract.
Don't be surprised if the Roosters pay part of his contract to go to another club. He will be lucky to get a bench spot next year.

The states pay whatever they want to sign players. They ask the ARU to top up the rest to help if the ARU deem worthy of an Australian contract.

He verbally agreed to a 2 year deal with the Force after we agreed for him to leave and break his 2024 contract.
We dont have the cap to keep him and may be forced to "bump: up his pay.

                    • I’m sure the club would’ve liked to offload him next year to help retain some of the emerging starts from this year (Whyte, Wong).

I’m hoping if he stays we still have the funds to facilitate this and re-sign Billy & Watson for next season. Doesn’t look great with no announcements and the fact it seems like we are trying to offload Momirviski aswell.

I’m not sure we should be resigning Watson as Sandon Smith offers far better utility value and I don’t see him being in front of any of our reserve/depth forwards except maybe Egan Butcher. He’d pick up a bench spot in one of the lower performing teams, Souffs maybe.

                        • From all reports, Watson is a well-loved team player and does a heap of stuff for the club.
I agree thou, S Smith, Cassius Tia and perhaps Zach Dockar-Clay offer enough cover at 14.

He does everything except play football unfortunately. Watson is surplus imo.

                              Never understood his value.

At the risk of getting Sally wet, we had better utility in Hutch.

                              • Agree regarding Watson. I rate him, was good value at the Knights without being a worldbeater but I don't see how he fits into the team. He's no hooker, so Sandon gets the nod over him and all the other bench forwards bring more than him.

Like him, wouldn't hate it if he re-signed but don't see the long term value in it.
