  • Suaalii at centre from game 1 made sense as after all Billy Smith and Paul Momirovski were unavailable as centre selection options for around the first 1/3 of the season and neither are rated as NRL players by quite a few on here in any case.

Paulo may have been an option but has mainly played wing - 8 games of centre in NRL only all with Souths - Corey Allan as well but on here he is even behind the Hutchinator as a centre option.

This site goes into melt down if the Hutchinator plays centre and or plays NRL no matter what position.

Walker had to be relegated simple as that as he lost confidence in his offense game and even said himself he wasn't playing well. - The decline in his game was quite noticeable even from the limited stats were are privy too - NRL/Fox

We are not privy to all the players stats and or any of the discussions that took place between Walker and the Coaching staff regarding his form

The injury wasn't envisaged of course but that's sport - injuries happen

Manu at 5/8 was also a sensible move and had been advocated by quite a number on here over time as he needs to get his hands on the ball more - like a shag on a rock at centre.

The issue was Manu's form as like quite a number of the senior and more experienced players he is not playing at the level he is capable of.

I don't think Manu at 5/8 is off the table going forward

    • as much as i disagree with the mangoes on NRL360 most of the time , they did say we got too many stars and not enough mongrels at the minute ...if someone could clone Aubo or Freindy and maybe Horrie Hastings, that would be good

Walkers running game certainly declined - When you're a running half your role is to Run.

Got the message as per his NSW Cup stats and may not have been far from an NRL recall if not injured as he was 18th player for the second Warriors game in NZ

        NRL
        • 12 runs for 135 metres - Dolphins
        • 8 runs for 110 metres - Warriors
        • 9 runs for 47 metres - Souths
        • 7 runs for 38 meres - Parramatta
        • 5 runs for 35 metres - Storm
        • 4 runs for 31 metres - Sharks

        NSW Cup
        • 19 Runs for 133 metres- Dragons
        • 14 runs for 101 metres - Warriors

I really hope Manu at 6 is off the table
you have to pass the ball at set up guys outside you at 6. Not just try and look good yourself
Manu is not and will never be a 6 as you need to distribute the ball but just run it
manu just needs to start coming off the outside and get involved more like he has done before

Sorry Mr Simpleton but the results do not support you. Since Sam was dropped the team lost all its attack. We are a shambles. We should have signed a decent centre in the off season. The decent centre that we should have signed should be playing centre. Sam earned his spot over the two knuckleheads that cost us the semi last year & most of the others currently running around. The low hanging fruit metaphor (that doesn't support your argument) actually means that it is the easy choice but not necessarily the best choice. Sam isn't the problem, he is the solution. Most people know that.

                1. Persevering with Walker in 1st grade until he finds form. Everyone else plays in their preferred positions.
                2. Dropping Sam Walker. Playing Keary at 7(when you know he's not a organiser) Manu at 6 ( When you know he's no playmaker)Suaalii in the centres (when you know he struggles with his defensive reads and alignments).
                3. Blooding Sandon Smith at 7. Everyone else plays in their preferred position.

A coach on $1.3 million a year should be ale to make the correct decision.
1 for me. Followed by 3, then daylight and then maybe, just maybe I’d consider 2.

Admittedly that’s never a good stat. But I remember thinking his defence had been really good at the start of the year so I did a bit of digging..

That night against the Sharks he made 30 which is up there for a half. Also, the 5 games prior to that he averaged 1.8 missed tackles per game. Pretty darn good if you ask me with 3 of those games he only missed 1 or less. Manu in comparison when playing 5/8 missed an average of 4.5 per game. Hence why I’ve never understood his dropping. We were also scoring 5 more points a game with Walker in the halves. Surely one off night defensively doesn’t get you tossed into reserve grade.

Interesting stats. Manu took the running half role personally, haha, couldn’t find a pass to save his life.

Bullshit statement IMHO. He was good enough to steer us to win 8 straight last year, but not this year? Why wasn’t Keary, Teddy, Manu, Suualii dropped……. they were and have continued to play worse that Walker ever did. Missed tackles…….Keary has been a turnstile all year, as has Suualii. Both Teddy and Manu have had years to forget in defence as well. Walker threw an intercept against the Sharks; well Keary threw a horrible one against the Sea Eagles and Smith against the Storm……do they get dropped? Nope.
Is it any surprise that since Walker was dropped we stopped scoring points?
Face it Simp, Robbo dropped the wrong player. Robbo needs to let him play his natural game, move Keary on and get a solid organising organising half. Is S Smith that, who knows?
Walker was not the issue in any shape or form.

At least he ran the ball though

Walker has to learn game management and structure and work on his kicking game - greater distance - Nathan Cleary went down to Melbourne pre-season 2020 and had kicking lessons with Richmond AFL Captain Trent Cotchin and hasn't looked back.

As far as scoring 5 more points per game with Walker in the haves- that had very little to do with Walker - 2 line Breaks (Dolphins and Warriors) and 2 Try Assists ( Parramatta and Storm) in the 6 games.

Walkers offense output in 6 games - 2 try assists ( Parramatta game 5 and Storm game 6 ) and 2 line breaks ( Dolphins game 1 and Warriors game 2).

So your statement that the team lost all it's attack since Walker was relegated is not the case at all as he was not producing in offense as the stats clearly show (try assists and line breaks) and not running the ball which a running half is supposed to do. - see below

Walker was one of the problems in offense and the solution was to relegate him to NSW Cup to work on his offense game

Walkers offense game was noticeably in decline as the stats show so the relegation was more than warranted - His offense game was showing an improvement during his stint in NSW Cup in those 2 games before he was injured.

I could post his kicking game stats which are not great nor are they for Keary - certainly both have to work on getting extra distance with their kicks

                              Walker

                              • 5 runs for 35 metres - Storm -1 Try Assist
                              • 4 runs for 31 metres - Sharks

                              NSW Cup
                              • 19 Runs for 133 metres- Dragons - 1 Try Assist / 1 Line Break Assist
                              • 14 runs for 101 metres - Warriors - 1 Line Break / 2 Try Assists/ 1 Line Break Assist

Who was this so called decent centre they were supposed to sign though and where would the money come from as the Cap was pretty much spent

Do you have the stats on Manu’s performances at 6?

he may have run the ball more, but he didn’t threaten or create anything from what I can remember.

i remember manu dying with the ball too many times.
