Seems to suggest the Manu experiment is over and that once Sam Walker is ready he'll be back in Firsts.

I know I’m probably jumping the gun before Sandon even plays a full 80 minutes but I really can’t wait for walker to be back. I can’t wait for someone to actually pass the ball other than keary.
I also really liked Sandon coming on in hooker 2 weeks ago. Even in his small amount of minutes he had the vision to push Teddy out of the way and set a try up on the right edge.
As a key board coach surely our best team moving forward would be
1. teddy
2. toups
3. billy smith
4. manu
5. suaalli,
6. Keary
7. walker
8. jwh
9. Brandon smith
10. collins
11. one of the butchers
12. Sittili
13. victor
14. Sandon smith
15. The other butcher
16. Crichton
17. race between;
Brown, Lodge, May, Whyte, Watson
Pauga unlucky to miss out but Suaalii was probably the best winger in 2022.
but in saying that we will probably see Hutch in the centres, victor in the halves, manu in lock and any other weird out of positions robbo can think of.

Robbo did a press conference yesterday and said basically:
- He's back and out of the moon boot but when you're in a moon boot for that long you lose strength/stability so he's building that up again first.
- When fit he will return, there are no questions about his form.
---
Seeing him in the locker rooms helping everybody out while injured, my reckoning is that his form was never bad, he simply rubbed a few senior players the wrong way and was being taught a lesson in respect.
My only lingering worry is that this happens every time we're down on form and have a young half (or even when we were doing alright with Flanno at 7!) It feels as though when we lose and a you g half raises his voice above seniors to say 'guys that was shyte, your opinions are dated, what we need is some more creativity' there's a few players who take it personally. They then work the hierarchy to crush the junior half... junior half gets dropped for arguing back... somebody who's inferior in the halves then has to awkwardly step-in and fill the gaping hole.
It reminds me of the old book 'Billy Bunter Does His Best' where a fat, clumsy guy ends up replacing a gun player who rubbed the captain the wrong way. The captain is then begged to let the better player back in but persists with saying 'what sorta captain would I be if I let him play?!?!? Nope. He had his chance and blew it... I'd rather play Billy Bunter than have him in my squad'. This is great when it's a novel (and Manu's no Billy Bunter). However, IMO the whole thing never shoulda happened. We need to work on getting you g halves to gel better with senior players (and I dunno which ones, but JWH publicly blasted Walker so y'know... maybe him!) as there isn't always a Cooper Cronk available.

He was always being targeted in defence, and he showed plenty of guts,
he should have had more support there too.
Lockyer probably missed more tackles that most halves, but the Broncos put a minder next to him in Tonie Carroll, who smashed anyone who can near him and Lockyer hard.
If you have a brilliant young half like Walker you have to support him.
Yes i can see how he would have ruffled some feathers by speaking up, and Radley should have kept his mouth shut, what an A grade moron he is.
I would have expected more from JWH than to bag the young bloke, maybe it was frustration,
maybe Teddy felt Walker was disruptive to his leadership..... which hasn't been anything great by the way,
The coach fukked up, lets hope he has learnt a lesson
Lets hope they have all learned something,
leave your fukkin ego in the dressing room, and play for the TEAMLast edited by NorfolkStreetKid; 06-17-2023, 11:32 AM.
