I'm surprised no one else has mentioned Ben Hunt.

At least you know he would compete every week for the team.

And he's far less trouble than a rumoured returning halfback.

Our 2019 GF winning team was:

      1. Tedesco
      2. Tupou
      3. Mitchell
      4. Manu
      5. Morris

      1. 2. and 4. are still here and playing well enough to retain, in those positions.
Replace Mitchell with Billy Smith and Morris with Young, and our backline would be good.

      *
      6. Keary
      7. Cronk

      6. is still here, and playing well enough to retain, in that position.
Replace Cronk with Walker and our halves would be good.

      *
      8. JWH
      9. Verrills
      10. Liu

8 is still here and playing well enough to retain, in that position.
Replace 9 will Brandon Smith, and 10 with Collins and the front row would be good.

      *
      11. Cordner
      12. Aubusson

      Both no longer here.
Replace them with a "too big, too strong, too fast 11. and Sitili at 12. and our back row would be good.

      13. Radley.
      Still here, but small etc.
Replace him with a big, strong, fast player who can bust tackles and make tackles, and our lock would be good.
      Our lock

      Bench.
      Who knows.
      . A big, tough kooker
      . Utility...Radley
. 2 big, tough forwards....ones who can bust tackles and make tackles

        15 Shane RIGON
        16 Bryan FLETCHER
        17 Julian BAILEY

That's the side that beat the Knights in 1998 in the major semi final. Outside of Fittler, how many of them would be classed as "marquee" players?
I always liked Junee. Matt Sing was a pro's pro. Ricketson is always up there in the reckoning. And maybe Lam, Bonetti and Fletcher. Other than that, it's a fairly pedestrian team.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

Looks like Fitzy is off the fickle ones preferred list of Coaches to replace Coach Robinson

I will say it again but thank our lucky stars none on here have any say on player signing and retentions and Coaching appointments.

As the Great John McEnroe often said "You Cannot Be Serious " that list of players to cut is taking the piss - has to be

lol@ Carlos's comment on Coach Robinson " it pains me to say it for the first time ever, though I do recall when he was first appointed I said it will only end in tears " - yeh sure you said that

Fittler pedestrian? The 1988 team would beat our current squad, particularly at full strength. They had plenty of points in them.

This team is old and broken down.

              Chopping block candidates for me:

Robbo (it pains me to say it for the first time ever, though I do recall when he was first appointed I said it will only end in tears)
Corey Allen (so what if he has played SOO, brings nothing to the team)
Drew Hutchinson (plodder - will NEVER play rep footy)
              Manu (lazy)
Nathan Brown (too old, done nothing to write home about - why is he even here?)
JWH (too old and now a liability. he might inspire his team, but inspiring a team of nufties to not make fundamental mistakes should not be his problem)
              Egan Butcher (hopeless)
Nat Butcher (see above, though he's good for a tackle or 2)
Sandon Smith (a former 'rising star' and SG Ball Player of the Year...if he's so bloody good, where's the evidence?)
Gus Crichton (if I was playing as shit as him, I'd have mental health issues as well)
              Lodge (just go now please)
Radley (a brainless idiot who never seems to play consecutive matches, let alone an entire match)

Players I'd keep and formulate a comp winning team around:

Tedesco (even playing at 70% his normal standard, he's superior to just about everyone else - get him a decent team and he won't feel like he has to do everything himself)
Keary (he'd be dynamic with the right team around him)
Walker (lose him and we're in the wilderness for 5 years)
              Tupou (1 more year only)
Sitili (needs a better team around him)
Collins (our only bright light in the forwards)
              Turpin (jury is somewhat out)
              Cheese (as above)
Pauga (has looked ok in recent weeks)
Paulo (has been better than 80% of the team this year)
Keary is finished as an elite half.

JWH is the only one in our pack with the cojones to actually have a go.

Collins rips in harder for QLD. This bugs me no end!

Johnny73 said other than Fittler...so I excluded him and never said he was pedestrian.

Thank goodness you also have no say in player signings, retentions and coaching appointments.

If you did, our forwards would be gender neutral, our halves would be women and the coach would have the whole team marching on Mardi Gras night.

                        This cannot be denied.

Showing Mitchell the door was, in hindsight, a misguided mistake.

We lost RTS and got incredibly lucky with Teddy. We lost Latrell and have Momo, Corey Allan...

Our problems are more than one centre spot. He was blessed to play in our colours and has won nothing with souffs.

His mistakes are also probably less frequent, though that part of his game seems to have improved.
