About a week or so ago the same thing happened to me. I went to buy some white ones but there were only a couple of puny looking ones there so I had to buy the red instead.

Coles had some white cream potatoes today but they all had spots on them so got the red ones.

          • By one poster forcing the mods to edit, this thread is now showing up very strangely on the front page and won’t take me directly to the last post.

Speaking of Moreton Bay bugs, last Christmas Day i had the best bugs i had ever tasted, it was part of a buffet at the Sofitel Wentworth Hotel in their Delta Rue restaurant, the bugs were full of meat and also full of flavour, the best ones i have ever tasted, so sweet and delicate..

I want to go to the Fish Markets again before they move to their new digs and hunt down some good bugs and also get a few leather jackets as my local fish shop rarely stock jackets. There is actually doubt that the new markets will be up and running by Christmas so still have a bit of time to get down to the old smelly chaotic one before it closes.
I had a similar experience at the Sofitel in Brisbane years ago, bugs a plenty, and very large.

I haven’t tried the seafood buffet at Sheraton on Elizabeth st, but it is meant to be up there with the best, also need to try the buffet at the crown towers.

I had the buffet at the Sheraton on Elizabeth St on my 40th birthday ( which was a long time ago ), the hotel has been renovated since then and i think different caterers have been there a few times since, it was decent then, i had been to the one at the Intercontinental a few times quite a few years back and it was good they stopped it when covid hit and don't think they restarted it
The Crown Towers one looks really good, i reckon it would be the must do one now.

The Christmas one was so impressive at the Wentworth , prawns were huge but had flavour, bugs were sublime, good oysters, most meats were good especially the porchetta, beef and turkey, i'm hoping they have it again this year.

                • My new boss took me out for lunch at Suriya Thai inside The Sussex today and I had mushrooms with tofu, veges and rice. I'm still not really hungry so having smoked salmon, a small avocado and 2 mini cucumbers.

                    • Last Christmas the Wentworth had the buffet in the Delta Rue restaurant and it was $249 which included drinks, food service went for over 3 hrs and drink service lasted for 4 hrs, it was amazing and worth every cent. I will check the website out as i couldnt see anything about their Christmas lunches a couple of weeks ago. I get emails from them so have been waiting for a Christmas one.

Interesting that i can't find anything on the Sofitel Wentworth site at the moment, an AI message pops up saying there is Christmas Brunch for $195 at the Garden Court restaurant at the Wentworth but i found an actual link to it on Travmedia and the article was dated 25th Nov 2014. Also the Garden Court restaurant doesn't exist anymore, they have Tilda and Delta Rue there now.
The Sofitel Darling Harbour is having the one you mentioned for $295, that one is up to date.

The roof top bar also looks like it has some Greek nibbles

                          • Spent a few hours down at Malabar at the beach and pool enjoying the sunny day so just got a roast chicken, potato bake and coleslaw on the way from Krazy Chixs at Malabar for a lazy easy dinner, have enough left over for another dinner.
