While i would have liked to see Cummins maybe stay in and try to hit an unlikely century the fact it was there was only one wicket left and i doubt whether Hazelwood would have offered much resistance if he was on strike i reckon it was the right decision to declare, although Cummins may have got Australia back to level pegging had he remained on strike i think the decision to declare was justified when the Windies lost a wicket before stumps .Originally posted by mightyrooster View Post
Nothing wrong with a difference of opinion. I just feel that’s WHY Pat declared. I would have preferred they continue batting the extra half hour but I’m not the captain. I like the fact he’s trying things and not a boring defensive captain.

And there’s no guarantee they would not have put on 16 as they just put on then for the last wicket partnershipOriginally posted by horrie hastings View Post
There was no guarantee they would have got any more runs even without the declaration.
That loss sits firmly on Cummins for his ridiculous and arrogant declaration when 23 runs behind on Day 2 No Captain in their right mind declares when 23 behind on Day 2 it is indefensible

Winners take chances or take their chances that are given to them and Cummins gave them a massive chance by declaring 23 runs behindOriginally posted by horrie hastings View PostThoroughly deserved win to the West Indies.
Congratulations though to the Windies fought back from 5 for 50 odd in the first inningsLast edited by Andrew Walker; 01-28-2024, 06:32 PM.I respect all our moderators here. Past present and even future. Always have done and always will do a wonderful job.
