The decision making still has the human element though - if the technology is available then by all means use it to assist in the decision making process
Different to some other sports where humans are not always making all the decision - cricket for an example - Hawke Eye/Ultra Edge and in the future Baseball with the ABS ( Automated Ball and Strike Electronic System) that will be calling balls and strikes - the ball or strike call will be relayed to Main Umpire( behind the plate) - virtually instantaneous).
That will take away the theatre of Batters/ Pitchers/Managers arguing over perceived bad calls with the Main Umpire and Players/Managers being thrown out of the game by any of the umpires.
Who can they argue with then over any perceived bad calls on balls and strikes.
It's being trialled in Triple A with the proposed introduction of the System in MLB in 2024.
