Good call, and they are all talented kids. We would be lucky if 1 of them became our new Jazza/Taks. The probability is not there though.Originally posted by DP1990 View PostIt's a bit of a tricky one because if we do go after someone like Haas or even Taumalolo for a few years, they'd attract money around $700k+ per season which is big money. Is that coin worth a player like Haas ? definitely ! ... Taumalolo ? maybe not that much.
We've got a lot of talented young lads coming thru such as: Daniel Suluka-Fifita, Tuku Hau Tapuha, Naufahu Whyte, Alex Leapai Jnr, Xavier and De La Salle Va’a and add to that as well the likes of Renouf Atoni and Terrell May,so do we throw the bank at a well-known prop in the game which may hurt us money-wise going after players to fill other positions down the track such as backs etc or do we back one if not all of our young up and comers already in our system ?

Payne Haas.
Blue chip investment, well worth the outlay even if it costs us 2 youngsters.
Yes sounds absurd but what he brings is too haas to pass up.
Those that commentate our game are wax lyrical about Payne's abilities and endurance and so young.
Whoever signs him next up has a potential 12+ year player in their establishment.

I think you are a little out of touch. $700k for Haas is way off the mark.Originally posted by DP1990 View PostIt's a bit of a tricky one because if we do go after someone like Haas or even Taumalolo for a few years, they'd attract money around $700k+ per season which is big money. I'd go after Payne Hass, even if it meant we lost a couple of the youngsters coming through.
Once JWH and SST leave I could see us with a Payne Hass-Collins combo to start and have a more experienced Baker and Tuku Hau Tapuha off the bench.
Throw in the likes of Rads, the Butcher bros and Angus in the second row and our pack could be lethal for years to come

Have faith..... if things go to plan we will have a plethora of young forwards that will don our colours for years ( Zachy Fittler, Alex Leapai, Josh Wong, Va'a Brothers, Salesi Foketi.. )Originally posted by SupermanSupportsEasts4Eva View PostI'd go after Payne Hass, even if it meant we lost a couple of the youngsters coming through.

I also thought we all shared some trust in our main man GRUBBER with his info on Payne. I was led to believe he is strongly considering coming down south to Bondi?
If we do capture Payne and have these younger boys in the background doing their bit and developing along with our spine with walks and js... Oh boy

Superstars win you comps. You need them to win premierships. Yes it’s great to have players who could potentially be superstars but if one is available you nab him if you can. We are all here for a limited time. I want more premierships immediately not in 5 years time.

Haas is so good at getting over the advantage line and getting a quick play the ball which sets up the rest of the set, having a great backline isn't effective without that go forward.Originally posted by Thirteen View PostSuperstars win you comps. Mate, there is a "+" symbol next to the written $700k on my post, implying that Haas would be asking for more than that amount, unless you think he would be asking for less (which I highly doubt) and that's why I'm off the mark ?Originally posted by Thirteen View PostI think you are a little out of touch. $700k for Haas is way off the mark.Last edited by DP1990; 03-22-2022, 02:32 PM.

I agree but so many of those guys are on the cusp of being genuine first graders we all hope two or three go on to be like JWH or SST type players.Originally posted by Mickie Lane View PostNo SST or JWH
Then it would be Collins & Baker followed by Suluka-Fifita & Ben Thomas followed by Tuku & Atoni then like DP said you then have Va'a brothers & Terrell May who was the surprise packet in the trials.
Are any of them better than Hass? NO.
Collins & Baker wouldnt compare to Collins & Hass but if Suluka-Fifita or Tuku stepped up then I think the Chooks have enough props to avoid going into the market.
I wanna see the Chooks develop players like they have been & have faith in their development system rather than buying established first graders from other teams but I do realise that you have to sometimes go & out & buy the best player for a certain position.
We've had guys like Napa and Evans, we all thought years ago that they would lead our pack for years.

Good point. I thought Napa and Evans were brilliant in lower grades. Both turned out to be average first graders.Originally posted by Billy Gunn View Post

Haas could demand $1m on the open Market and he’d get it. If Fafita can get $1.2m than Haas can get a million. Why mention $700k+? It’s unrealistic. He is $1m+.Originally posted by DP1990 View Post

we've got jwh for another couple of years so we'll have a better idea of who our future stars already with the club will be if and when he calls it a day. tauks is looking really good but maybe catalans is a done deal and some of his money has gone to signing cheese. would be good if sammy really steps up this year and cheese is happy to play a bit as a middle. but obviously to get haas would be a real coup

The only reason I didn't mention his market value of $1million+ is because, I don't think the Roosters would pay that amount for Haas, as good, dynamic and a gun of a player he is now and will be in the future. Roosters in recent times haven't entertained the idea of paying overs/big money for outside talent, and I'm only going by the example of what we've all read about that Brandon Smith is coming to us next year on less $$$ than what other clubs had to offer him.Originally posted by Thirteen View Post

You're right, any other club and he gets $1million+ just for walking through the club door and doing a photo op but would we pay that asking price for Haas ? ... I don't see that happening. We would have to move a lot players on and use Sio Siua Taukeiaho's money (hypothetically) and then some to even get remotely close to his market value $$$.
