Are they asking him to take a pay cut on his existing contract or a future deal?Originally posted by Kramer View PostNewcastle want Pearce to take a 40% pay cut. He's not happy about that. What do you think of offering him a deal to return to the Roosters?
Why would anyone take less money than they’re entitled to?..it’ll be interesting to see

Future deal and you would think he has made enough coin out of the game to take less so he could surround himself with better players and try to win a comp at the back end of his career.Originally posted by The Skeez View Post

I think it’s a bit of a cop out when people say players should take less because they’ve earned so much. They exit this game in their early 30’s “retired”.Originally posted by Johnny Brass View Post

If they wish to then sure I could understand that rationale but I can also understand the rationale of realising that the next 30yrs of your life is going to be a bit of a grind trying to make money so set you and your family up well.

I think he's been paid above market value for what he has delivered for a lot of his career and if he hasn't set himself up by now he never will.
The last couple of years of his career you would think he would be looking to win a comp like the Morris boys did not scrounge out for the highest dollar.

Give the guy a break. As much as some of you bag Pearce, he helped us win a grand final, has a great big bloody Roosters tattoo on his arm and used to love sticking it up the bunnies whenever we played them.
Do I want him back? No, not really, but show a former player who helped win a comp for us a bit of respect.

No, 20 minutes of brilliance from the former Sonny Bill Williams and Michael Jennings being a freak try scorer won the Roosters the 2013 grand final.Originally posted by chicka View PostGive the guy a break. You forgot Maloney, the only time Pearce shone was when he had a decent 5/8 outside him. Carney and Maloney.Originally posted by Johnny73 View Post

What a poor summation of the 2013 Grand Final.Originally posted by Johnny73 View Post

And from a Roosters fan no less.
Sam Moa an absolute beast in that second half, Jimmy with a hand in 2 of the 3 comeback tries & excellent goalkicking to keep the difference more than a converted try, SKD's courgae with a broken jaw, some of Friendy's clean up work around the ruck late in the game, Pearce & Guerra's link up for the start of the come back.
