IMO JWH would be a LOT better if there was no initial hype surrounding him. He was too young/cr@p when first selected for NZ (a decision made purely so he wouldn't play for Australia) now I think he needs to buckle down and prove his worth. He's good and I say we keep him (there aren't too many clubs interested in him anyway)... he's nowhere near our best forward. Solid... but won't go down in the history books unless he improves significantly.
So you're saying he was so young & crappy the Kangaroos were interested in him?

Does his manager tell you who is & isn't interested in him? you seem well informed. Please let us know as soon as he gets the calls.

I thought 2011 was the year that JWH worked out what it means to be a top line first grader.
His discipline improved - only 1 real brainsnap - Gallen's head, so that's understandable.
His aggression was strong, but not over the top
      His fitness was massively improved.
His inside cover and chase were excellent

While ideal for the backrow, by letting Ryles go, this'll mean he plays up front this year.

JWH, Tasi, Kennedy and bursts of Mose will be a very solid platform to build from.

Fair point but IMO JWH hasn't reached his full potential yet either. And if he has, I believe Tasi has the potential to be better. In any event they are both different types of players and if we were forced to choose between the two I would choose Tasi. Ideally I would want to keep both. Cordner is a completely different style of player again. And then there's Kennedy, who injury free, is RW&B through, has outstanding leadership material and the kind of personality the Club must hang on to. Unfortunately in this day and age of salary caps we can't keep them all as much as I would love to, and hope we do.

good post.. imho I would prioritize the following way

            1) Tasi
            2) Kennedy
            3) Cordner
            4) JWH

This is not to say that Cordner or JWH are not priorities, however the afore mentioned 2 are really special.. The caveat with Kennedy is injury. If he was to reinjure his foot badly, early in 2012 he could slide to number 4 as no matter how good you are not much use if you cannot get onto the field. I think JWH improved massively in 2011 and I would still want to keep him but not if other clubs were offering ridiculous numbers. I would then shore up the other 3 if that were the case and also make sure Mose is retained. He played last season with a serious neck injury so those criticizing his minutes need to consider how much an affect that injury had on his playing time and ability to train properly.

From what i've read in the past i thought Tasi and Kennedy were signed till end of 2014. So signing JWH and Cordner shouldn't be a problem!

The salary cap might have a say about that.
The both of them are wanted by other clubs. If SBW is coming & getting paid what has been reported he will take up Anasta & Mini's pay plus probably Guerra as well, then to fit JWH & Cordner in will be tough. Mose may not be able to be retained to keep th other 2.

This post is about a year late. JWH stood up last year. He would be well aware more is expected of him, but he is far from simply hype. For a bloke that is all of 22, in a beaten team he was a standout.

I thought with the increase in the salary cap & the fact that I dont think 400k is that unreasonable for a guy that I think is the real deal. I think he is better than Tariq Sims & that within 3 years he will be playing SOO.

I understand that what I have just said is all subjective but from the moment I saw Cordner for some reason to me he just looked like a genuine footy player. For his age he is so big & strong & didnt look out of place for a moment playing FG. Im not going to compare him to say a Bradly clyde because he is Boyd Cordner but again just my opinion this guy is special.

                      Simple fix.

And let me make this perfectly clear.

ROOSTERS MANAGEMENT, DO NOT SIGN SONNY BILL WILLIAMS

I understand what you're all trying to say, but for many of you to rank JWH at the bottom of your lists astounds me. He is an international, played in a Grand Final and held in a high regard aorund the league at age 22. More than I can say for Tasi, Cordner and Kennedy. I'm not doubting their potential, but sometimes better the devil you know?

Comparing making an Australian International side to a New Zealand International side is flawed, Australia have about 3x as many players to pick from. Also making a Grand Final isn't really a great individual achievement either, it's a reflection of a team far more than it is an individual.

In saying that Jared's a great young player and there's no reason why we shouldn't keep him, even at the cost of SBW which might be a tough pill for some to swallow.

Instead of worrying about losing JWH, Tasi or Cordner, why don't we just look at getting rid of under performing players such as Symonds, FPN, Anasta, J. Carney etc. We CAN have our cake and eat it too by having JWH, Tasi, Cordner AND SBW all in our side!!
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

                                Here's looking at you, kid.
