    Full injury update
    20/12/2011 5:32:40 PM

The injury God's didn't shine brightly on the Roosters in 2011 but thankfully the Tricolours are looking fit and healthy heading in to the Christmas break.

As it stands heading in to the summer break all players with the exception of Anthony Cherrington are set to be fit for selection for round one in 2012.

    Full Injury Update:

    Mitchell Aubusson
Aubusson had a shoulder reconstruction in June of this year and has now fully recovered from the operation and will be ready to go in the trials in the new year.

    Lama Tasi
Lightning has struck twice for Tasi who has re-fractured the same finger that kept him out of action last season. The exciting youngster has already had an operation and should be good to go in time for round 1 in 2012.

    Frank Paul-Nuuausala
Nuuausala had both ankle and elbow operations in the off season but is now fully recovered and ready to play in the pre season trials.

    Shaun Kenny-Dowall
After missing the last two games of last season SKD underwent groin surgery but after a slow recovery has now moved back in to full training and will be ready to go for the trials in early 2012.

    Mose Masoe
Mose underwent surgery with an expert in the field on the Gold Coast to replace a disc in his neck at the end of the 2011 season. The fan favourite had been getting pins and needles down his side during matches but is reporting a massive improvement and whilst the situation is still being monitored is expected to be fit for selection in round 1 of the new season.

    Martin Kennedy
Kennedy had a foot stress fracture which kept him out for the majority of the 2011 season. Such an injury can be very delicate and Kennedy has shown great patience and worked tirelessly with the medical staff and is finally back to full running and will be fit to play in the trials.

    Anthony Cherrington
All fingers crossed this will finally be the year a bit of luck shines on back rower Anthony Cherrington. Cherrington went under the knife for his second knee reconstruction after the first trial of 2011 but unfortunately after a few complications was forced to undergo surgery for the third time in early July. Fortunately his recovery seems to be on track but given his history Cherrington will be eased back in to competition and should be available to start playing again in early May.

looks like our frontrow is going to be underdone starting the season with Masoe/Tasi missing the trials and Kennedy coming back from long term serious injury.

He's a goddamned gimp, why are we persisting with him?

Yep I was just thinking the same thing. Time to let him go IMO.

If he injures himself again then you will get your wish. But honestly, he's on peanuts cos he took a pay cut knowing the Roosters were showing a lot of faith and what decent second rowers have we let go to keep him on the books? Shane Shackleton? Ethan Lowe i guess? Well worth it for mine if he comes good again. Potentially, he's without doubt the best second rower we have on the books. Smith said last year he is the most talented young second rower he'd seen. It's good that he now has the patellar graft in both knees. The hamstring graft provides a less painful rehab path but is much weaker. He seems to have turned his life around for the better and become a good clubman and I for one wish him the best.

Cherro has had a horrid run with injuires. He's being paid peanuts to stay on our books so I don't see any harm in perservering with him a little bit longer. It may pay dividends in the long run but in the meantime it's not hurting anyone by keeping him on the books.

                            He sure does.

I'm a little concerned with what fletch pointed out earlier about the front row. He also talks a lot of sense.

How many of you knew that Mose had a disc replaced in his neck? That was a surprise to me and I'm amazed very little has been made of such a significant (and I would have thought career threatening) operation. Also, I didn't realise Kennedy's foot injury was also VERY bad. From all this it now makes sense why they signed Josh Ailomai from the knoughts who I suspect may get a run in FG next year.

Can't wait to see Cherro in action again. If you haven't seen him play, you're in for a treat. I went and watched the Roosters trial against the Warriors at the start of 2010 and honestly, he was a cut above everybody else on the field.
I for one am glad we've stuck with him. Fingers crossed for an injury free year!
