If anyone thinks that a 16yo, 17yo or 18yo is going to come into FG & take over from Cronk then you are delusional.
The good half backs in the game are at least 25 plus. The real good ones are late 20's & the best one is in his 30's. The only bloke that would come close to Cronk is DCE. For a young guy to come in & play the most vital position on the field you would need to have the Australian 5/8 in the halves with him.
The top 3 sides have experience plus plus plus in the halves.

Well I am fairly sure the Australian 5/8th in last years Test was our own Luke Keary..

The Club has earmarked this kid as a First Grader by 2021,so if you think they are delusional then I am happy to be part of that list also!

Young halves are so hard to predict.

The position demands so much of a player in regards to footy intelligence and temperament which are skills that are usually developed through experience and age. It is near impossible to measure in a youngster. The club is doing the right thing in going out and trying to secure the best young talent.

However as we saw with Nikorima, Hastings, Watson and Matterson in 2016 that even 4 of the best up and comers can struggle... for different reasons to lock down a position in first grade.

This kid is 16. He is not the replacement for Cronk.

            Agreed.

He is not a replacement for Cronk.

He is a potential first grade halfback.

I'd like think that if the kid signs with us that Cooper Cronk would mentor him and turn that potential into reality.

Just had a chat to an ex Roosters player via facebook..says he is gonna be a great and is highly advanced expect him to play first grade by 18.

                Hope we stay well away
You're not alone in your opinion on Flanagan. He hasn't got me overly excited. I'm sure Cronk would have had some input on Walker's game.

Highlight reels are always going to show the best but they say he does this every week.

If he was to play halves by 2021, that's also when Latrell's contract expires. Obviously trying to cover all bases here. But watch all the Roosters potential signings come out now that Cronk has called it quits.

I don't understand why some on here are dismissing this. Didn't pearce make his first grade debut with us at halfback when he was 17 or 18 years old.

Well done to the club for trying to lock him in.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like the Souvlaki boys are in the club's future plans and are looking elsewhere.

He is not a replacement for Cronk but somewhere out there is a 16yo kid who is going to play for Australia one day, as well as a 16yo future Australian fullback etc.

Every club is looking for the next Cronk and who knows where Walker will be in a few years time. Hopefully he will be just as good and play in the RWB.

Brock Lamb was signed as a replacement for Cornish, not Cronk.
