  • finally a structure to work with

its only taken 26 rounds to see a structure that can be successful

power forward game on the backs of Ryles/Masoe/JWH/Tasi/Kennedy when fit

Pearce/Friend working off second phase play from Ryles/Takarangi

    Guerra/Maubs/Lowe wide running secondrowers

how frustrating it has taken 26 weeks and the threat of having his contract ripped up to see FPN finally have an impact.

Our forward pack should be immense next season, they are murdering the old Storm pack even with all their wrestling bullshit.

Big question should be who implemented this tried and trusted formula and why wasn't it adopted earlier in the season ??

Matt Elliot has been in the dressing room pre-game for the last 6 weeks, make of it what you will.

It is only in recent weeks we have had a larger squad to select from.

We have one of the best forward packs in the comp. We also have one of the worst back-lines in the comp.

here's my question, which of these 5 bows out should they all be fit and ready to play? They've all been brilliant in different facets this year, but i'd say Masoe is the first one to drop off, which is a real shame because he's one of my favourites to watch.

The biggest shame about having so many forwards is there are so many of them I love seeing in RWB

Masoe, Tasi, JWH, Maubs, Symonds, Guerra, Takiarangi, Cordner, all can be very exciting players, and all of first grade standard on their days...
I support two NRL teams, the Roosters and whoevers playing Souths

                    8. Kennedy
                    10. Ryles
                    11. JWH
                    12. Guerra
                    13. MAubs
                    15. Masoe
                    16. Tasi
                    17. Taikarangi/Cordner

Masoe is an absolute weapon, can't leave him out.

i'm not sure Guerra will be here next year, would be hard for him to pass up the security of a longer term deal with the dogs

also time to limit the amount of dummy half running, it was plain for all to see tonight we were much more dangerous tonight playing off our forward pack, its time to stop the 3-4 dummy half runs every set we got into the habbit of when Perrett/SKD/Mini/Leilua were in the lineup together, Friend has matured enough to hand the reins over to him and let him shape the direction of the attack.

The difference is that Carney is no where near the team.
And probably more importantly players like Tasi and taikarangi (Sp?), guys with good attitudes have been able to play.
Some solidarity and players that respond to the leaders - Anasta, Mini and Ryles all makes a huge difference

Try and be serious and you will look stupid

Based on the back end of our season...

                            1. Minichiello (retires at end of next year, look to Alofa or new fullback)
                            2. Perrett
                            3. Kenny-Dowall
                            4. Carney/Leilua/Tagive/Moga/Blair
                            5. Carney/Leilua/Tagive/Moga/Blair
                            6. Anasta
                            7. Pearce

That is the backline for the future. We have Friend as the obvious choice as hooker, with Mitchell, Roosters NYC rake Dumbrell, and Eels NYC hooker Blackman all ready and willing.

We have a glut of props for next season - even though Ryles will be in his last year, we have established long term prospects in Hargreaves, Kennedy and Masoe, the ever-improving Tasi, and highly rated NYC prospects Evans and Ailomai.

As for backrowers, even if Guerra and Arona decide to not re-sign for next year, we have Takairangi, Aubusson, Nuuausala, Symonds and the new addition Jack Bosden all tied up long term, Cordner to stick around for another year alongside Cherrington, and rookies Ethan Lowe and Dane Atkinson waiting in the ranks too.

No good working a plan around dominating in the forwards unless they are up to it. Our pack was really disrupted with injury throughout the year, and it frequently showed. Established players suffered season ending injuries: Kennedy, Maubs, Conn. Guerra was also troubled early by on-going problems. Then our most promising tyros joined the casualty list just as they were finding their feet in first grade: Tasi, Cordner. Plus a few guys were below their best at various stages due to carrying injury, especially Ryles early in the season and more recently Mose.

The combination of more luck on the injury front (in the forwards) over the past month or two, along with our up-and-comers really settling in and finding their confidence has made a world of difference.
