What did he do at the Knights?

Linnett is a solid first grader but the Cowboys just lost their star centre and had plenty of money to play with. It was probably a smart decision when you consider the talent coming off contact next year AND still to be re-signed this year. Give me a real reason to blame Smith not more agendas

This leads to a serious question, is Shaun Kenny-Dowall worth all that money. He may be gun but he has a shitload of mistakes in him.

He's a creative player who gets a lot of touches during the game, errors are expected. It's whether he can minimise those errors without the ball which is the bigger question.

Same has always gone for players like Marhsall, Mateo etc. I think they're worth it tbh. Carney makes more errors than SKD, did so last year too...

Maybe Anasta should of taken a paycut then we could of given linnett bit more

Anasta is taking a pay cut, it's how we can afford to pay others more.

We can't keep them all, it's not like there has been a mass exodus of promising young players and when you look at the talent we had off contract we were realistically always going to loose one or two at the least.

The bottom line is, if we lose Braith and Mini, two of our worst, we retain guys like Linnett, with interest.

Kane is a casualty of the Anasta-Mini coma we find ourselves in. He's not the worst casualty to have had, but it would have been nice to have cut the dead wood instead of cutting him.

Mini takes up very little of the salary cap as most of his wage is exempt from the cap.

Yes it's disappointing to lose Linnett but with the salary cap the way it is we can't keep them all. BJ is a far better option in the long term than Linnett and from all reports Moga has huge potential. Cowboys were desparate for a replacement for Tonga and obviously had more money to spend than us. We needed a big, strong and fast winger and although Tagive has a horrendous injury record he does fit that bill and probably came cheaper than trying to match the offer from the Cowboys for Kane. Any money we save from finally retiring off Braith and Mini (whenever that occurs!) should go towards a decent fullback. Smith AND O'Sullivan are just trying to negotiate the salary cap as best they can while trying to keep a good balance in the team. Linnett is a good solid player but he's no superstar in the making.

Just read on another Roosters forum that someone heard the Cowboys offered Linnett close to $200k a season. If that's the case, it's any wonder we couldn't afford to keep him.

Nothing wrong with Linnett but nothing too right either. As a loss, he reminds me of losing a player like John Williams (also to the Cowboys).

I reckon he is one of those players that you only really notice if he is playing for your club. Solid, honest first grader.

We can't keep everyone - if the Cowboys offerred him more than we did then all the best to him.

We werent prepared to match that offer, probably rightly so.
