Napa always looks for the big hit which is susceptible to a little bit of footwork.

Perhaps he could be a little bit more efficient but he's still a fearsome hitter in D that the oppositon look to avoid.

The likes of Smith and McCullogh hardly ever miss tackles because hard running props don't try to avoid them because they don't hit hard. They also flop in as 3rd man a lot to be a marker defender. This inflates their tackle efficiency.

Look beyond the stats and watch the game. Napa is a defensive weapon, no doubt.

Agreed... it's a different kind of tackling. Smith will do 50+ shirt grabs a game where he holds up players before the pigs come. Players are happy to stick with him and make metres. He'll largely 'tackle' players who are going right down the middle and are happy to make metres.

Napa... is an impact forward who will run off his mark and attempt to rattle the bones of playmakers. If successful, he'll have a play maker (or key forward) completely wiped out of the next 2-3 play the balls. This is crucial if (for example) it's the 4th tackle and he takes out a JT/Reynolds/Smith...etc. If they step him then such is life - it's not a line break and he'll have done his job already by slowing down their play (which is also crucial if, for example, there is an overlap on a wing that they are prevented from exploiting).

Maloney? Is tiny so big forwards run at him all day. Not much you can do about that.

according to the nrl website the top 5 leading missed tackles this season so far are: james maloney with 31, kane elgey with 23, mitchell moses with 19, ashley taylor with 18 all these players are in the halves so its not unexpected to see them in the most missed tackles column except that rounding out the top 5 list on nrl.com is dylan napa with 18 missed tackles and having a look at his games so far he has missed 5 tackles in round one missed 3 tackles in round two missed 4 tackles in round three and missed 6 tackles in round four he is by far our worst offended with pearce at second with 11 missed tackles keary at third with 9 missed tackles which is to be expected from those two then guerra and cordner with 8 missed tackles and for comparison lsaac liu has 1 missed tackle connor watson has 0 missed tackles zane tetevano has 2 missed tackles jarred hargeaves has 6 missed tackles

napa needs to pull this stat in and do better
