If all they did was post silly threads then I would probably agree with you but that isn't where it stops, they derail threads that are started with the intention of serious RL discussion which ruins the user experience for those who come here to discuss or read footy related content and the way I view it that's the intended purpose of this forum.

If users can generate some light entertainment out of it simultaneously then awesome but surely that has to be secondary to promoting genuine discussion of Rugby League topics.

There's an OFF Topic section which anyone can go to town on if they want. I think we've been more than generous/lazy with 15th and 16th chances that have been granted and the duration of their stays each time.

Because for every person who says 'let them stay they're a good laugh' there's another person saying ban them because they make the forum unbearable.

I understand what you're saying R6. I really do. But just like with the NRL judiciary it's the inconsistencies of who gets banned and for what and for how long which is the issue I have with this. Some posters have a long history of abusing other members and yet when they are banned they are given a few days 'suspension' and allowed back with a new name and without being automatically banned again for past transgressions. Yet inevitably they revert back to old behaviour and start making abusive, sexist, racist or other derogatory rants again only for the same cycle to start all over again.

I also understand during the season proper it is annoying having football threads constantly derailed by rubbish talk but this is the off season and there really isn't a great deal to talk about at the moment.

Anyway that's just my two cents worth.

I don't envy the mods on this issue.

I know it's the offseason but there's no doubt in my mind that many good members have been lost due to the prominence of troll accounts on here.

Which is a real shame and so I don't envy the mods job of balancing free expression with keeping the troll/s in check so the forum doesn't completely die.

It's a sad state of affairs when I assume that every new member is a troll account. And then some get banned. That's not the mods fault imo. Or at the very least the majority of the blame lies elsewhere.

A member here a former colleague of mine whom I played touch football with and argued and talked about league with Bunnywithteeth was banned about the same time as one or your mates and one of Turks alias. No reason was given but he was a thoughtful and respectful poster being an opposition supporter, he started to "are you ok thread?" and his last posts were about Keary and his perspective on him being a Souffs supporter and also on the Moon and Robinson suicides as he has gone though hard times and lost his sister (who I met only a few years ago) to a overdose last April.

If people don't like what Turk or others posts then block them. Turk is never offensive (apart from being warped and shit stirring), biggoted or racist. There are others here who are but were not banned or have been banned for those things but have been happily welcomed back to the fold. Further to continually ban Turk or others who may not beat a certain drum here will lead to less members and Turk is not going anywhere, he is a very passionate RWB supporter and will keep on coming back here ad infinitum whether people like it or not. But we are losing other members from these bannings and for every member who has allegedly left because of Turk's so called behaviour there has been about the same who left because of the bannings and some who left were not banned.

I appreciate being a mod is not easy but I ask that every member is judged on what they post and not on what they may have or may not have done in the past. under previous aliases Otherwise tbh there would be almost no one left on this site.

Bunnywithteeth was banned? What for? He may be a Souffs supporter but he was one of the most respectful, intelligent posters on the Chookpen. I don't understand that at all. Obviously banned because of his name. But honestly he was one of the best posters on here, despite being a Souffs supporter.

I agree. Turk is clearly a sad and lonely individual who needs help, but the volume of attention-seeking nonsense he exudes here is unbearable. A troll is a troll is a troll. Please find a way to have him permanently exiled.

It is the mods fault when they are banning good people on suspicion, the 2 guys i know posted nothing wrong, offended anyone they were banned because super dick thought they were someone else because a couple of members suggested they were Turk, that is bullshit, even now after finding out he ****ed up he has still not re-instated those 2

I think it was just lack of interest in the end. People are accustomed to visiting this site imo even if it is neglected. Why doesn't Chris let someone like the Jisman take over? He obviously doesn't want it and in the year 2017 it is kind of laughable to think the domain name has any real financial value. Just my 2 cents.
