I Think on the back of all our current success we should be looking at a new Manufacturing Sponsor such as Adidas, Nike, Puma and much better quality then ISC and for the same price.

Would love if they did - I like the idea of doing something like the Dogs - perfect mix of old and new.Originally posted by ChrisN View PostNever was a fan of our old logo, but that's probably because I wasn't around then. I don't mind our current logo but a lot of Roosters Fans don't like it. What if the club came up with a few new revamped logos that we could choose from?
Well, again there is pretty well zero evidence that having "Sydney" has helped us build corporate dollars or our fan base. Again, a tiny suburb like Collingwood just blows the seemingly more bankable brand of "Sydney" out of the water when it comes to football brands in Australia, so maybe the whole "history and heritage" thing is where the real value is at, rather than superficial attempts to build appeal through cynical dilutions? Just a thought.Originally posted by ChrisN View PostI Think our current name "Sydney Roosters" is the best we can get. The "Sydney" name is good for the corporate dollar and for new Rugby League Fans across the World or in Australia, Whats the first City they think of in Australia?

Addidas and nike both do pretty good footy jerseys. Canturbury have some good stuff too - love their Ireland jersey from last year.

True, The Brand "Sydney" will help us a lot in the future when the Game grows and is more International.Originally posted by RoosTah View Post

Would love to see what they could come up with.

But will it though? It hasn't done shit for us so far apart from dilute our brand and disconnect us from our heritage. I mean, has Chelsea FC struggled for recognition because it's a team from a tiny corner of London? Would Wigan be better off rebranding themselves as the "Manchester Warriors"?Originally posted by ChrisN View Post

Very True! Still want to stay as the Sydney Roosters.Originally posted by RoosTah View PostBut will it though? So you agree the change to Sydney Rooster has done nothing for us apart from dislocate us from the vast majority of our 107 year history, but still want to keep it as "Sydney Roosters"?Originally posted by ChrisN View Post

That doesn't really make sense...
In any case, I think we can all agree that the original decisions were clearly based on some pretty flimsy logic and haven't achieved what it was supposed to.

I dont see the point of going backwards. Those who love the club will support it no matter what it is called.
I started to follow the chooks as an 8 year old. I picked them because I liked the colours. As a youngun living on sydneys south western fringe I had no idea where or what Eastern Suburbs was, nor did I care.
I still love those colours and the club over 40 years later. That will never change no matter what its called or the logo they use. Just dont mess with the red, white and blue!Supporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

Funnily enough you've just proven how moronic and unnecessary the change to "Sydney City" and then "Sydney" was.Originally posted by novice chook View PostI dont see the point of going backwards. Those who love the club will support it no matter what it is called.

What I'm suggesting isn't really a backward step - I'm not saying we should go back to Easter Suburbs. What I'm proposing is a forward step that respects and pays homage to our past. Our base is in Eastern Sydney and all the evidence shows that the majority of our fans remain in the east.
By calling ourselves Eastern Sydney and renewing our brand with a logo that embraces both old and new, we'd be reenergising our brand by more directly tying our NRL club with our club's glorious 107 year past.

Spot on.Originally posted by Vasco View PostBeing named Sydney Roosters has helped us survive long term. Since the name change we have been a powerhouse.
It's about marketing for the whole of Sydney as opposed to just the eastern suburbs, where the demographics have changed dramatically over the past couple of decades.

Why do people keep agreeing with this in spite of the fact that literally zero evidence supports it? South Sydney have a crap load more support in Western Sydney than we do despite our more inclusive name and Collingwood is one of the tiniest areas in Melbourne and yet have one of the biggest fan bases in any Australian footy code.
Given our appeal isn't anything close to either of those clubs in terms of geographic reach, I think the whole "Sydney" rename is pretty piss weak.

Vasco was talking about marketing and having "Sydney" in our name has helped us increase our value on the advertising market. And he's right.Originally posted by RoosTah View Post

The Easts chant still goes up at games, I don't think any fan has forgotten who we are.
Go Easts.
